Rhon Inspiration Station: Keep Singing Your Song

I always love to start my days with reading the Bible. It always reminds me why I am here and what my purpose in life is, and to give glory to Jesus for all he does and the many blessings and people in my life that fill my days with joy and laughter. I am sharing today’s message, which I recently received via an email from my good friends PAUL & HELEN MATEKI, as it truly touched me and I hope that it will mean as much to you as it meant to me. I thought that it was just too good to delete or post into a folder, so the only thing I could think of was to share it here on our Inspiration Station for all to enjoy!

” Keep Singing Your Song”

“Become a BETTER YOU”

MUSICNOTESI love to share written words that speak to me, and hopefully they will speak to those that read my column…RhonOne of the secrets to being a better you is to keep singing the song God has put in your heart- even if you can’t carry a tune in a bucket ! Let me explain. Too many people go around negative and discouraged, allowing their problems and circumstances to weigh them down. They live stressed out, dragging through each day not really excited about life. I’ve had people tell me, ” Joel, I’ve got so many problems not able to enjoy life. ” or “The reason I’m discouraged and nothappy is because I have to many things coming against me.”The fact is, God has put a well of joy inside of each one of us.Our circumstances may be negative, things may not be going out way. But if we can learn to tap into this joy, we can still b e happy. We can live with enthusiasm in spite of what comes against us.One of the keys is found in Ephesians 5:18. It say, ” Ever be filled with the spirit.” Notice, you don’t just get filled one time and you live happily ever after. The Scripture says to be ever filled. That means we can be filled on a continual basis. How, can we do this? The next verse reveals the secret: “By speaking to yourselves in psalm and hymns, by making melody in your heart, and by being grateful.” In other words, the way to keep your life full of joy and the way to overcome the pressures of life is by keeping a song of praise in your heart. All through the day, we should be singing, if not aloud then at least silently allowing a song of praise to dance through our minds. You may not actually vocalize words and music. You may simply express a grateful attitude. In your thoughts you are thinking about God’s goodness. Or maybe you go around humming a tune to a song. Maybe it’s something as simple as whistling while you work, but throughout the day, you’re making melody in your heart. Under your breath, you’re saying “Lord thank YOU for this day. Thank you that I’m alive and healthy.”When you do that you are filling up on the inside, God is replenishing your strength; he’s refilling your supply of joy and peace. The very things that so often become depleted through the stress, disappointments and rigors of the day. God wants to refresh in your life. When you keep singing that song of praise, you can be continually refilled, filling up faster than the depletion caused by life taking a toll on you that’s how we stay full of the spirit. Think back to when someone gave your child some helium filled balloons on his or her birthday. For the first few days following the party, the balloons remain bright and beautiful. They fly high at the end of their strings bobbing in the in the wind. If you let go, the balloons would take off into the air. In a couple of days, though, the balloons begin to shrivel and shrink, sinking down, lower, smaller, weaker. Day by day, the balloons drop lower and lower. Finally, they land on the floor, totally deflated. The balloons have lost their life and attractiveness , not to mention their potential to rise higher.

will be in next week’s column !

“God won’t protect you,

from what He wants to do to perfect you!”

I am above all things: your problems, your pain, and the swirling events in this ever-changing world. When you behold My Face, you rise above circumstances and rest with Me in heavenly realms. This is the way of Peace, living in the Light of My Presence. I guarantee that you will always have problems in this life, but they must not become your focus. When you feel yourself sinking in the sea of circumstances, say “Help me, Jesus!” and I will draw you back to Me. If you have to say that thousands of times daily, don’t be discouraged. I know your weakness, and I meet you in that very place. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.
—Ephesians 2:6“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.
—Matthew 14:28–32
