Randy Travis Archive Album To Be Released

Randy Travis’ Country Fans Will Soon Hear The Voice They Thought Was Lost Forever

“Same Old Way,” a new Randy Travis album composed entirely of unreleased material, arrives November 13th, assembling recordings made during album sessions between 1986 and 2013 that were ultimately never released. The project is helmed by Randy’s longtime producer Kyle Lehning, who sourced the tracks from the Travis archives and remixed and remastered them into a cohesive collection. The result adds 12 original songs to the country legend’s catalog.

The announcement follows years of hope among fans that a trove of unheard Travis material might exist. Travis, whose career was cut short by a series of health problems beginning in 2013, helped save country music in the mid-’80s alongside George Strait and the late Keith Whitley. Travis and his camp had earlier experimented with AI to recreate his voice, but the approach appears to have been abandoned in favor of genuine archival recordings.

The release joins a recent string of well-received archive projects from country legends, including releases from Waylon Jennings and Don Williams. Several singles have already surfaced ahead of the album, including “Fish On” (July 10th) and “I Don’t Care” (August 7th). The announcement is accompanied by the title track, notable as the only song Travis ever co-wrote with producer Kyle Lehning.
