This Likileake asks a very touchy question:

Do you cheer for your children or grandchildren in a public place?

Recently a woman was arrested for cheering for her son at a high school graduation ceremony.

The mom’s son was her first child to graduate from high school and her enthusiasm got the best of her and she stood up and cheered quite enthusiastically.

The police officer closest to her told her to sit down and shut up. She ignored his demands and continued to cheer for her son of whom she was so proud that she was bursting at the seams.

She was then hand cuffed and brought to jail for disturbing the peace. It costs her several hundred dollars to get out of jail and she plans on fighting the charges and going to court. I don’t know what will be the outcome of her efforts but I will keep you posted as I learn more about it.

I can understand how people assembled in the streets and chanting very loudly about their grievance whatever it may be, can be construed as disturbing the peace but a Mom cheering for her son at a high school graduation? I personally feel like this incident is way over the top.

Jubeln Sie in der Öffentlichkeit Ihren Kindern oder Enkelkindern laut zu? 

Vor kurzem wurde eine Frau verhaftet, weil sie ihrem Sohn bei seiner Abschlussfeier von der High School laut zugejubelt hat. Der Sohn war das erste von ihren Kindern, dass einen Abschluss geschafft hat, und sie war total aus dem Häuschen, ist aufgestanden und jubelte aus ganzem Herzen.

Ein in der Nähe stehender Polizist forderte sie auf, sich zu setzen und ruhig zu sein. Sie ist seiner Aufforderung nicht gefolgt, sondern hat weiter gejubelt für ihren Sohn, auf den sie so stolz war, dass sie hätte platzen können.

In Handschellen führte man sie ab und brachte sie wegen Ruhestörung ins Gefängnis. Um aus dem Gefängnis entlassen zu werden, musste sie mehrere hundert Dollar zahlen. Und jetzt will sie sich dagegen wehren und vor Gericht ziehen. Ich weiß im Moment noch nicht, wie es ausgehen wird, aber ich werde Sie auf dem Laufenden halten. Ich kann ja verstehen, wenn es um eine Gruppe von Leuten geht, die auf der Straße laut ihren Unmut bekunden – aus welchen Gründen auch immer – und dass man das als Ruhestörung empfindet. Aber eine Mutter, die über den erfolgreichen Schulabschluss ihres Sohnes mit Jubel reagiert?

Meiner Meinung nach wurde da total überreagiert.
