.WHISNews21 Prayer Line and thoughts for Wednesday March 27, By Marty Martel.

wednesday01.

Because I have under the weather for the past several days, and I do thank you for your prayers, I did not get the Thought or Prayer Line out like I should have. I will try and catch up today.

First of all the memorial service for Jack Greene was a definite Celebration of his Life and it was beautiful. I will have the complete story on my“Off The Cuff News” this Saturday morning from 10 to 10:30am–CST.

Today I just received more sad news that Gordon Stoker of the famed Jordanaires, has also passed away, March 26th. I do not have any details at this time, but as soon as I receive any information I will certainly get it posted to everyone.

Henry F Hank CorwinThere is more sadness in country music this week. We have lost great steel guitarist Hank Corwin passed away on March 25th, Henry F. “Hank” Corwin, Jr. 1939 ~ 2013 , age 73, of D’Iberville, MS, died Monday, 2013 in Gulfport.

Mr. Corwin was a native of New York State, living many years in Nashville, TN. As a musician he played with numerous artists at the Grand Ole Opry and he was the first steel guitar player to appear on stage in Russia. Mr. Corwin retired on the coast in 2003.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Barbara A. Corwin of D’Iberville; his brother, Patrick Corwin of New York; and his uncle, Jack Flanagan of New York.

Services will be held at a later date.

The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gordon StokerNASHVILLE, Tenn.—Gordon Stoker, a member of The Jordanaires vocal group that backed up Elvis Presley, has died. He was 88.

His son, Alan, told The Associated Press that Stoker died Wednesday at his home in Brentwood, Tenn., after a lengthy illness. Stoker, who was born in Gleason, Tenn., got his start playing the piano on WSM radio and its signature show, the Grand Ole Opry.

He joined the Jordanaires as a piano player, but then took on a role as a vocalist singing tenor. The group was already well known for their gospel singing when Presley recruited them to perform on his recording of “Hound Dog,” in 1956.

The group also performed with Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, George Jones and Tennessee Ernie Ford.

EARTH AND ECHOES: Crooked trails of fiddler crabs etched in surf-smooth sand, Declare God’s presence just as if He sketched them with His hand. Eerie shrieking screams reveal a soaring peregrine, Monstrous rumblings of volcanoes burst from forces locked within. Lingering in warm evening air are traces of gardenia scent, And high above– a rainbow’s span reminds us of God’s covenant. Echoes of the earth forever disregard short years of man, For that which God created, still revolves around His mater plan. Madolyn Jamieson

They that hope in the Lord will renew their strength, They will soar as with eagles’ wings: They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.Isaiah 40:31
