My friend Ralph Harkey sent me the following sad news: Please keep in your prayers and prayer lines the family of Carl “Chuck”Goff Jr. They will need all of our prayer lines to help them through this most saddened time in their life’s. Our thought and prayers also go out to Toby at the sadness in his heart from the loss of his close friend. – SLAUGHTERVILLE, Okla.

Authorities say the bassist for country music star Toby Keith has been killed in a two-car crash in Oklahoma. The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office says 54-year-old Carl “Chuck” Goff Jr. was killed in the crash Wednesday night in rural Cleveland County, about 35 miles south of Oklahoma City. Keith said in a statement that he’s “deeply saddened” by Goff’s death. Keith says Goff was a close friend for more than 25 years, serving as band leader and bass player. Goff shared writing credits on “Upstairs Downtown” and “You Ain’t Much Fun” on Keith’s 1994 album “Boomtown.” The two-vehicle crash remains under investigation. Authorities say the driver of the second vehicle wasn’t seriously injured. ©The Associated Press

Marty, I have a special request…I have a colleague/friend, Sandra Bumgarner, whose son, Stephen Shore, is serving in the United States Air Force. He recently fell ill with kidney stones for which he received treatment and is recovering. Now, he has been afflicted with a brain infection. The source of this infection is unknown at this point. He is stationed in the Warner Robbins GA area right now. This young man has been on approximately 3 tours in the Middle East. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. – Ralph

Oh my God: You know my weakness and failings, And that without Your help I can accomplish nothing for the good of souls, my own and others’.  Grant me, therefore, the help of Your grace. Grant it according to my particular needs this day.  Enable me to see the task You will set before me in the daily routine of my life,  And help me work hard at my appointed tasks.  Teach me to bear patiently all the trials of suffering Or failure that may come to me today.  – Amen.
