Thought for 12-3-12 and Prayer Line

Prayer Line for the family of Bill Carlisle Jr. Please read the following from my friend Roger Ball regarding Bill Jr: Bill was a member of Madison Church of Christ. The minister, Phil Barnes, made the announcement this morning. He also told this story. Madison has been involved in building clean water wells in Africa. Estimated 5 children die each day from bad water. An auction was held to raise money for more wells to be built. Bill, who was an avid motorcyclist, donated a small bike that he had purchased to help with the fund raiser. Phil said he tried to start the bike all day and wasn’t successful. A man said he would purchase the bike if he could hear it running. A call was made to Bill who promptly informed them of a kill switch. They got the bike started so the man purchased it. Bill was riding the bike to the man’s house to deliver it when he wrecked and caused his spinal injury. He was doing his part to help save lives and eventually lost his own life in the service of others. Bill was a hero in my book.

AMID THE CHRISTMAS HUSTLE AND BUSTLE:  Amid the Christmas hustle and bustle candy canes, scented candles, and wreaths of pine, There’s a inner peace waiting, a touch of the divine. Though bobbles shine with splendor and sweet odors permeate the atmosphere, There’s a definite, daily remind that Heaven holds a hope so dear. Listen to the chuckles of glee-filled youngsters and to the reminiscing of Christmases past! Yet, tucked in the heart, something greater, life eternal that forever lasts. Yes, it’s more than glitter and sparkle and a room full of boxes and bows; It’s much more than mistletoe and holly. Surprise! It’s a Star with a Holy glow. Leading us to Bethlehem’s manger and the way to salvation’s call; A wiggly Babe so cute and tender, cooing, perhaps, in a mooing cow’s stall. For Christmas isn’t just about gifts and giving, although those are special and nice, But it’s also about a Savior who, out of love, paid the ultimate priceLinda C. Grazulis

Thought for 12-4-12 and Prayer Line

From: bill.graham06@comcast.net  Hi, All…. We have these prayer requests today from, Jerry Dehay in Texas, as he explains below. God Bless! Bill. I have 2 very important prayer requests;

1. Our grandson, Chris Loudamy (32 years old), called last night to tell us that he is being admitted to Baylor Hospital today for special treatment for his severe migraine headaches. It will involve a type of chemotherapy to readjust his brain chemistry and to detox him from the narcotic pain relievers that his previous neurologists had prescribed. His new doctor has diagnosed his problem and says that the narcotic pain relievers actually made it worse. He will be in the hospital until Friday and I am leaving today to go and stay with him. Please pray for Chris and for Dr. Hok, the neurologist, and the hospital staff that God will grant him full recovery and restoration according to His will and to His glory and honor and praise.

2. Next Monday we will go back to Baylor with our younger grandson (12 years old),John Ford Wall, who will undergo surgery to remove an extra bone from his right foot on Tuesday morning. A certain portion of the population has this condition — for most it is not a problem, but for others like John Ford it causes severe pain. The big risk with the surgery is that it involves severing the tendon that runs across his foot lengthways. He will have to wear a cast and stay completely off that foot for two months. He is very athletic and active, so that is going to be a real challenge for him. Please pray that God will guide Dr. Brodsky, the orthopedic surgeon, and give him special knowledge wisdom and skill as an agent of His healing power and bring about healing and restoration to John Ford according to His will and to His glory, honor and praise.

Thank you for your faithfulness as prayer warriors and for your networks of prayer warriors that have great power in prayer. I love you and will keep you updated on the progress of both grandsons. – God bless you! Jerry DeHay

LITTLE SHEPHERD BOY: There was a little shepherd boy tending all his sheep, Ever watchful through the Night while the town was fast asleep. He was sitting by the campfire when suddenly on high, The Night was almost turned to day by a Star up in the sky. He watched it slowly moving west and then it seemed to stop; Above the town of Bethlehem this ray of light did drop. Turning to his faithful dog that was lying at his feet, He said, “This Night, a miracle my eyes did chance to greet.” We know today what this boy saw – the birth of our dear Savior… From that day on he who believes is granted our Lord’s favorAlbert N. Thought for 12-5-12 and Prayer Line

Hi Everyone! Just want to ask for your prayers for Jerry, he and Jerry, Jr. went down to Big Spring yesterday for his eye surgery tomorrow and in the examination today the Dr. found that his other eye that has Macular degeneration also has turned wet and is ready for the shot and another film has grown over the lens he had implanted 2 years ago, also there is a bleeder. They are going to work on both eyes tomorrow. The Dr. said that without the shot, etc. in the right eye he would surley lose his sight in it. The left eye has the cataract that they are going to remove. So please keep him in your prayers that both eyes will come out of this with better vision.

Also, when they got to Big Spring yesterday, Jerry Jr.’s truck conked out. He replace the fuel filter and it got them to the motel but this morning on the way to the hospital it died again and wouldn’t start, the lady at Auto Zone took Jerry on up to the VA Hosp. so Jerry Jr. could work on the truck, anyway, as it turned out it’s in the shop for a new fuel pump and they had to rent a car to get back and forth to the hosp. However, it will all have been worth it if Jerry’s vision is saved – Love to everyone! Liz

The following is from Mike Williams who is a member of the Knights of Columbus and a dear friend of Wayne Frazier. Wayne and Pam Frazier are dear friends of mine and also go to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church here in Hendersonville. Wayne has been having difficult health issues for several years. Please keep him and Pam in your prayers and prayer lines. Much needed.

Pam called today and asked if I would inform the Knights that Wayne had a stroke yesterday. It has affected his speech. That seems to be the only thing that it has affected him as of right now. Thanks, Mike Williams

Also Stonewall Jackson for a speedy recovery, Jimmy and Lorraine Smart are also going through difficult health issues and need our prayers.

Have not further information on funeral arrangements for Bill Carlisle Jr.

T.G. Sheppard doing great.

Thought for 12-6-12 and Prayer Line

Read at least the first two lines…..Never thought of it this way! Jesus died over 2000 years ago.

Nobody has ever referred to him as the late Jesus, Not even the heathens. Nowhere in history.

Nowhere has He EVER been referred to in the past tense! He is the Living God!

cacfriday6Thought for 12-7-12 and Prayer LineToday is a special day in the life of the United States of America. It is National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, which is annually on December 7, commemorates the attack on Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii in 1941. Please keep in your thoughts and prayers all of our military men and women in today’s service, our veterans who are still alive, and all those who have fought and died for our country to keep us safe to continue to enjoy our freedom’s.

THE CHRISTMAS STORY:  For months the stores have had big sales preparing for Christmas Day. People push and shove to pick and choose and use some plastic to pay. Homes are decorated with twinkling lights and presents that folks can’t afford to buy. While outside above the roof is Santa with his sleigh and reindeer in the sky. There are festive gatherings for family and friends around the tinsel-covered trees. Glasses are raised to wish “Merry Christmas,” enjoy today seems to be the key. But Christmas is about the Christ Child and why He came to earth. Let’s give him gifts of love right now and share the story of His wondrous birthM. Elaine Fowser

Thought for 12-8-12

I am late in sending out today’s Thought for the Day. I am under the influence of the flu if you know what I mean. Other than coughing, fever, cold chills, headaches, body aches, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes, I FEEL GREAT.

THE LIGHT TO LONELY SHEPHERDS:The light that shone at midnight on the hill so far away, Was for the lonely shepherds, who kept sheep from going astray. The message that was given to those lonely, humble men, Was a song of peace and joy, God’s great gift to lonely men. As light that shone to shepherds from the heavens upon high. And filled their souls with marvel as angelic hosts drew nigh. So to us the joy is given, just to know that God is love, That He gave His only Son, brought salvation from above. And so we find this Christmas that the song of long ago, Was the message of salvation, was that God did love us so. Was for the lonely shepherds, who kept sheep from going astray, He did seek us as the Shepherd, led us in salvation’s way – Charles G. Ramsey
