JOANIE VISITS HEAVEN Former child star Burbank, CA native, Erin Moran, who plays Joanie Cunningham in Happy Days brings back fond memories of the good old days of the Fabulous Fifties with her cute smile. To captivate on her popularity in Happy Days, producers ask Erin to costar in Joanie Loves Chachi with Scott Baio but it cancels after one year. On Saturday, April 22, 2017, Harrison County, IN sheriff’s deputies find Happy Days costar Erin Moran unresponsive at 56. Autopsy reveals she passes away of stage 4 cancer.

O’REILLY’S NEXT STOP After such a massive shakeup, where does someone of Bill O’Reilly’s magnitude land back on his feet? Because of his high voltage exposure, all of the alphabet networks are out of the picture. When O’Reilly’s non-compete clause runs out about six months from now, O’Reilly is free as a bird to land in any nest. JRRR predicts a possibility of Conservative media company Newsmax with its TV network (on cable and online), website, magazine and newsletter. Newsmax can use Bill O’Reilly’s superstar power.

50 YEAR HOUSTON, TX NEWS ANCHOR STEPS DOWN You may notice that we say steps down instead of retire. We do not believe that the word retire is in KTRK TV CH 13 Houston, TX Dave Ward’s vocabulary. In November 1966, newscaster Dave Ward exits KNUZ-1230 for a gig on KTRK TV as reporter and photographer. Ward never dreams that his news anchor position on KTRK TV last 50 years when many others bow out sooner. May 2, 2017 is the final day that Dave Ward appears in KTRK TV’s 6 pm news anchor chair.

DAN MCCURDY [formerly Charlie & Harrigan-KLIF-1190/KBOX-1480 Dallas, TX/WMEX Boston, MA] (Sherman, TX) Whoa, Jim! You happened onto a rare and seminal scene of Chapman’s undoing few could imagine! RON GOT FIRED! To hear him describe his frantic flailings and crazed collection of SFX and bits for his next gig, it would likely be, “WFAA (TV) and I agreed that the ‘teen dance’ broadcast fad had peaked and I now had a chance to use the TV show as a stepping-stone to where my highly successful radio chops needed to be — as the Southwest’s Premier Broadcast Personality. And by George, I DID IT!!” I honor and respect what RC accomplished at KVIL (FM) — simply astounding national radio fame as ‘the AC King’ — but I will be forever grateful that, at KLIF (1190), I worked WITH him and not FOR him! – Dan

JUDGE JONATHAN HAYES [ex KWKH-1130, KEEL-710, WKY-930, KLIF-1190, KVIL FM, KLUV FM] (Waxahachie, TX) My first radio job out of Elkins Institute in Dallas was in October of 1970 at KIXL (1040) in Dallas. I also worked at KLUE in Longview (pm drive), KWKH Shreveport (evenings), KJOE (pm drive), KRMD (pm drive) and KEEL (evenings). KKLR (am drive) and WKY (middays) in OKC. KLIF (pm drive), KVIL (helicopter traffic), KLUV (am drive), etc…etc.

ANDY WALDROP [ex KILT-610, KIKK FM] (Houston, TX) Judge (Jonathon Hayes) is a good guy. Lives in the Dallas area (Waxahachie, I think). He’s conservative and has been in radio for a good number of years.

TRIVIA ANSWER: In the late 1950s, the FCC considers several systems to add stereo to FM radio. The FCC rejects the Crosby system because it is incompatible with existing subsidiary communications authorization (SCA) services. The FCC rejects the Halstead system due to lack of high frequency stereo separation and reduction in the main channel signal-to-noise ratio. On April 20, 1961 the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approves the GE and Zenith systems of FM stereo broadcasting.

CHUCK DUNAWAY [WABC-770, KLIF-1190, KBOX-1480 & KILT-610] (Houston-Katy, TX) Subject: Foreman Scotty kiddie TV show. Jim; PS: those overalls are on display at a museum in OKC. I was a character named Hog Waller (WKY TV). The Foreman Scotty show out rated another kiddie show called Beanie and Cecil which was on at the same time on ABC…we had the only TV show to beat Beanie and Cecil in the USA. There was talk about us going onto the full Net on Saturdays, but my deadly deed cancelled that. When the museum called me to ask for a pair of the overalls. I simply went out and bought a pair and washed them before sending them to the museum… (www.chuckdunawaydj.com/)

THOMAS A. EDISON (February 11, 1847 – October 18, 1931) I have friends in overalls whose friendship I would not swap for the favor of the kings of the world.
