CNN SHUTS DOWN RADIO On April 1, 2013 Dial Global ceases its distribution of CNN Radio’s twice-an-hour newscasts and instead begins to carry NBC News. The CNN radio news center continues to create original audio news content for other distribution channels like podcasts. But on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 CNN Radio brings to an end its Walkman air beam production as it terminates its radio division. CNN issues a press statement: The company completed a review of its radio business and has made the decision to cease production of CNN Radio podcasts, effective immediately. This sudden closure affects about 12 CNN staff members. CNN claims that it reassigns a few ousted radio staff members elsewhere inside the company.

TRIVIA ANSWER: In 1949, our family moves into a brand new white frame house in probably one of the very first sub-divisions far southwest of Dallas, TX. We are way out in the country. Soon, dad buys us a new 17″ Truetone table model TV set from Western Auto which is a giant screen back then. Can remember seeing the very first I Love Lucy show in 1951. One of my favorite TV shows is Boston Blackie starring Kent Taylor as Boston, Lois Collier is Mary, Frank Orth is Inspector Farraday plus Whitey their doggie. Boston Blackie is a syndicated detective cop series that airs from 1951-53 with 58 exciting 30-minute episodes.

ROBERT TINDLE [Radio Engineering Professional] (Tyler-Lufkin, TX)My best gigs was Engineer and DJ at KIXK 106.1 in Dallas and KHYI Y95/KODZ Oldies 94.9 in Dallas with Wolfman Jack before making the rounds at most of the stations in Houston as Engineer! I also worked in Austin, Beaumont, Bryan and Laredo, Texas, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Little Rock, Arkansas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana! You should post your Radio career timeline maybe on your 50th (anniversary-2014), I know it would be interesting! Keep Tuned! Thanks and take care! Robert Tindle

ZIG ZIGLAR (November 6, 1926 – November 28, 2012) Expect the best. Prepare for the worst. Capitalize on what comes.
