I was unable to attend the funeral today, but I did get to offer my thoughts and condolences to Nancy and family last night. It was a open casket and George looked at Peace. Nancy held up for over 5 hours of meeting everyone who came to offer their support to her.

The Opry House holds approximately 4400 people, and I can guarantee you that there were over 5000 waiting for the doors to open this morning.

I did watch the funeral on TV and it was a great celebration of George’s life. Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, Barbara Mandrell, Gov. Huckabee, and Alan Jackson were especially soulful as anyone I have ever listened to in my entire life on this earth. Vince had a very, very difficult time finishing his song Go Rest High On The Mountain, but Patty pulled him through it, and Vince gave his heart and soul when he played his guitar solo during the song. Extremely one of the most soulful pieces on a guitar that I have ever heard. Barbara Mandrell brought her heart and soul to the stage to bid her friend goodbye, and Gov. Huckabee spoke words that were from his heart. Everyone did an awesome job, but Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, and Alan Jackson brought tears to my eyes. If you were watching, there is really nothing more that I can tell you. It was a great celebration of George’s life and I know that he no doubt was with his friend Johnny PayCheck watching the celebration.

The following is for our prayer lines: Keep Nancy Jones and family in your thoughts and prayers as the sadness of their loss continues to hurt their hearts.

I got this from my cousin in NY state and thought it perfect to pass on for a prayer request also. Many of you know Ramona Slover and I would like to ask you all to pray for her and her family that they be comforted in this hard time they are going through losing a loved one to cancer, it is Ramona’s nice Tina and she is in Houston now staying with her sister. Love you all! – Liz

I asked for prayers for Nick Nixon a few weeks ago. Dr’s gave him less than 3 weeks, the would have been about April 12. At his tribute/fund raiser April 21 he was there in a wheel chair. He has come a long way even in the last 10 days.

Marty, You may not be familiar with Turner Mires, he is one of the best guitar techs in Nashville. He’s been keeping alot of us pickers going for 40 years. He collapsed Friday and is in CCU at Skyline. I don’t know his current condition but I understand it is extremely serious. Please keep him in your prayers – Aire Yego, Roger
