BOB GREEN [ex PD/DJ KULF-790, WKNR-850, WQAM-560] (Houston, TX) Subject: where radio’s going” from Bob Green. Hi Jim: Don’t wish to give you more comments than you could ever wish to read…but the attached (from 2010) does address your “where’s radio going” subject. In 2010 I did a session at Houston’s JCC about radio. The 70 people who attended weren’t radio people, but they seemed to enjoy my perspective on the subject. It wasn’t in script form, but one of the attendees was taking a court reporting class, and was kind enough to get it in the form attached. It also had an audio component (not included here). I still feel that the observations are true today. Thanks Jim, Bob Green (former KULF, WKNR, WQAM and others)

STANLEY TEATER [ex KTEM-1400] (Austin-Cedar Park, TX) Subject: Verle Freeman (BJ Adams). I worked at KTEM (1400) from early 1973 until spring 1976 when I moved into television. Yes, I remember Lynn (Woolley) well. For most of my time in Temple I believe he was working at WFAA (570) in Dallas. At one time while I was working in Austin television I seem to remember Lynn starting a one-man ad agency. In fact, unless my old mind is playing tricks on me he pitched me once. Verle was a good friend. I was operations manager and he was production director at one point. It’d be great to touch bases with him. I’ll give the email a shot. Thanks.

LESLIE WAYNE HODGES [ex KRCS-550 DJ] (Lake Livingston-Cold Spring, TX) Hi Leslie here; Lee Jolly on air on KBZB (Odessa, TX) 1960’s and early 1970’s. Jay Brit was Honey B on KBZB in Odessa in the 1960’s and early 1970’s 10pm to 2 am. When the person scheduled could not make it in. I returned to Houston April 1988 after being in air on KBIM Roswell (NM) then KLEA Lovington (NM) where I walk into the Woodchase Apartments at 2900 South Gessner and surprise there is Jay Britt Manager of Woodchase Apartments. My covered parking could walk out look up and see the que lights flash from the KRBE control room. KROGER then was right there I called my kitchen. All this at Gessner and Westheimer Later just south of my Woodchase Apartment will eventually be a location for KSEV AM 700 where Wishnow was on air live from there at midnight. Ed Brandon was on air afternoons during this time where I meet Ed just getting off his shift hurrying out the front door as he had just returned to being on air on KTRK Channel 13 Ed; friendly as he said “got to get to Channel 13, now”.
