MUSIC LOSES ANOTHER HOLLY On August 22, 1957, Holly Suzette Dunn is born in San Antonio, TX. In high school, Holly tours with the Freedom Folk Singers. She attends Abilene Christian University and sings in The Hilltoppers. Dunn moves to Nashville, TN. In 1985, Dunn signs with MTM records. In 1986, her first top-10 Daddy’s Hands claims #7. In 1989 Are You Ever Gonna Love Me and in 1990 You Really Had Me Going both reach #1. On November 15, 2016 Holly Dunn passes away at 59 in Albuquerque, NM.

NOHEART SLASHES THE EDGE After 27 years with Alternative Rock, on November 16, 2016, at 3 pm KDGE FM begins playing Closing Time by Semisonic on repeat, plus a message that tells listeners: You can hear the sound of 102.1 The Edge at 97.1 the Eagle. On November 17th at 5 pm, iHeartMedia flips KDGE FM to Christmas music as Star 102.1. KDGE FM’s first Christmas tune is Last Christmas by Wham!. www.KDGE.iheart.com redirects its edgy visitors over to KEGL FM (The Eagle 97.1).
CBS RADIO MOVES 200 TO MUSIC CITY New York-based CBS Radio owns 117 radio stations in 26 markets that reach 65 million listeners per week. But, none are in Tennessee. Just ahead of CBS Radio’s major shakeup, as it spins out from CBS in 2017 with plans to go public, the radio division of CBS Corporation relocates 200 mostly ‘back-office’ roles to Nashville, TN. CBS Radio expects to invest $5 million in the Nashville operation to occupy at least two floors of Bank of America Plaza, plus maybe another half floor.
JOHNNY CASH’S LAKEFRONT ESTATE UP FOR SALE On Tuesday, April 10, 2007, the 14,000 square foot home that late Country music legend Johnny Cash and wife, June Carter Cash live in, catches fire in Hendersonville, TN. Two years after Texas businessman James Gresham buys the Country music legend’s 4.5-acre lakefront estate for $2 million from Barry Gibb of the 1970s Pop group The Bee Gees, he has it for sale. Stan Peacock, broker with Cyre-Leike Realtors says: We know it’s going to be in the multimillions.
