GREEN GRASS OF HOME TURNS BROWN In 1967, just before noon, when I’m noon-3 pm DJ on Dallas, TX favorite Country radio station KPCN-730, a fella greets me at the door saying: I’m Curly Putman. I wrote Green, Green Grass of Home. Other huge hits to his credit include: D-I-V-O-R-C-E, My Elusive Dreams, plus George Jones monster hit He Stopped Loving Her Today. Curly is the inspiration for Paul McCartney’s Wings’ hit Junior’s Farm. On Sunday, October 30, 2016 Country songwriter Curly Putman passes away at 85.

THE COOL GHOUL MISSES HALLOWEEN Since 1958, each year at Halloween, radio frightens listeners with John Zacherle’s spooky hit, Dinner With Drac (#6). American Bandstand host Dick Clark crowns John Zacherle as The Cool Ghoul. In the 1970s and 1980s, Philly native John Zacherle is also a Progressive DJ on WNEW FM and WPLJ FM in Gotham City. On Thursday, October 27, 2016, horror TV show host in both Philadelphia, PA and New York City, John [The Cool Ghoul] Zacherle passes away at 98 in NYC.

SPORTS FANS UPSET WITH NATIONAL ANTHEM PROTESTS Recent unflattering protest of America’s National Anthem by San Francisco 49er QB reaps outrage in the Sports community. Other eggheads follow suit. No coach steps forward to end this embarrassing attitude by brain dead Sports athletes. This results in declining NFL TV ratings, plus a dive in ESPN subscribers. November 2016 ratings numbers are worst in the history of ESPN’s existence as a cable company which loses 621,000 cable subscribers.

ARE YOU READY FOR TRUMP TV? After Fox News’s longtime chairman Roger Ailes resigns, atmosphere at Fox News is icy. O’Reilly, Hannity and Van Susteren contract clauses allow them to depart if Ailes leaves Fox. Greta Van Susteren is already gone. Fox News 2nd highest-rated talk show host Sean Hannity might exit to Trump TV. With one year to go before Fox News #1 Bill O’Reilly’s contract expires, will he leap to the new Trump TV? Megyn Kelly might bolt to either CNN or MSNBC. Trump TV is on a roll before it begins.

GARY DELAUNE [KYTY-810 – KLIF-1190-CH 5 KENS TV] (San Antonio, TX) Jim; I received a call from Paul, Joe’s (Long) son, that he had died and wanted me to come to the funeral. I flew to Big D and got there just in time for the services. It was the last time I saw many of those KLIF (1190) alumni. We went to Barbara and Joe’s house after the service. I had just started at KENS TV and had to do some tall talking to get off that day. Before I left KLIF, Roy (Nichols) and I made the assignments and covered all the events. But he convinced Don Keyes to pay me more money although I made more doing football for KMAE in McKinney than I did doing the Cowboys with Rick Weaver and Jay Randolph. George Smith, owner of KMAE, paid me 10 cents a mile and when I drove to Sulphur Springs or Gainesville, I did alright. GD How about the Morning News endorsing Hillary.
