HERE COMES THE WOLF JVC Media shakes up Orlando, FL with its purchase of WHKQ FM (KQ103) and takes control of the frequency at 12:01 am Friday, December 19, 2014. JVC flips WHKQ FM’s call letters to WOTW FM and tosses its Spanish format into Country 103.1 The Wolf. WOTW FM’s new GM is Chris Ganoudis, previous GSM of Cox Media WMMO FM (98.9). Steve Avellone, recently with iHeartMedia is new Director of National Sales. Rodney [Shadow] Grant, longtime PM personality on WWKA FM (K92.3) is new PD, along with MurphDawg as APD/MD.
FORMER NEWS ANCHOR LANDS ON HER FEET In August 2008, Adela Uchida becomes new KTRK TV ABC CH 13 weekend anchor until she exits in January 2014. She joins Radio One all-news KROI FM (92.1) Houston, TX up to Wednesday, October 8, 2014 when its all-news format fades and its entire staff hits the road Jack. To remain ahead of the broadcast game Adela lands on her feet on CBS Austin, TX affiliate KEYE TV CH 42 in January 2015. KEYE TV is the original KVUE TV CH 42 during my time in 1966 as PD/MD/DJ on sister station KHFI FM, along with KHFI-970.
HOME FLIPPING ARRIVES IN MUSIC CITY One of my most favorite TV shows is American Pickers on History channel with hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz who travel America in search of unique and treasured antiques plus other objects of joy. From their home base in Le Claire, IA Danielle Colby seeks out locations for Mike and Frank to explore in their large van. Historic preservation enthusiast Mike Wolfe wraps up an HGTV pilot episode of Nashville Flipped for February 2015 with local home flipper Troy Dean Shafer and interior designer Alexandra Cirimelli.

DON SUNDEEN [DJ/Hi Records promotion/TV ad prod] (Dallas, TX) Subject: Jerry Lee Lewis/Memories. He’s an amazing person whose had an incredible life. The fact that he and the cousins literally came from nothing and all became rich and famous is mind-boggling, he used to say “Swaggart says I’m going to hell, he’s probably right.” But it didn’t slow him down any. When my daughter was probably a year and a half to two years old, I took her backstage at the Anaheim Coliseum to greet him and the other artists before a show. JL took her out of my arms and started carrying her around to show the other artists, “Ain’t she the cutest thing?” He’s one of a kind and I decided to write some stuff about him before he’s gone. Working on AL Green.
FRANK HALEY [KILT, KLIF, KTRH, KVIL] (Albuquerque, NM) Thanks Jim, Merry Christmas to you and your doggie. I’m now starting my 55th year on the “air” in radio. After 6 years on the air at KKIM AM 1000 in Albuquerque, the station has been sold, and my gig here ends on Dec. 31, 2014. As of Jan. 5, 2015, I will be doing the morning news on another local Christian am station KDAZ 730. I guess I’ll just keep reading the news for Jesus till he takes me home. Not many of us “Old Guys” still on the air any more. I’ll be 75 in April, and my health is good, so why retire? I hope you have a Happy New Year, and keep JRRR coming my way. Frank Haley (KDAZ, KKIM, KFLQ, KOB, KTRH, KILT, KLIF, KVIL, KDOK, KTBB, KEEE, KGAF, KCPA, KDNT)

ED MILLER [Ed Milton KPCN-730] (Austin, TX) Hello! Jim, Really glad to have you back. I’ve missed reading your radio screeds. Haven’t been getting JRRR for the past several months. Last issue I recall bemoaned computer problems, and I feared that digital problems might have had you off the air, although your archives indicate otherwise. Anyway, it was a true Christmas gift to see you back in my inbox again. Best regards, Ed
DAVE MICHAELS [WSAI-1360/KONO-860/KBUC FM] (Dayton-Huber Heights, OH) Subject: Hey JIM! I got the Jim Rose Radio Report in my e-mail. So I am back in business. The Gremlins are Gone! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year my friend Dave

(Suzie told me she wanted first billing for once in subject line.) You probably know that John Jay Hooker was the Democratic nominee for governor of Tennessee in 1970 and 1998. He is a perennial candidate for public office.
JOAN PATE-DAY [late Sam Pate’s sister] (Cedar Creek Lake, TX) Happy Jesus Birthday to you Jim. It has been my pleasure having you for a friend. Lots of memories we share. BOB HOPE (May 29, 1903 – July 27, 2003) My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?
