One of the guys that is part of our long time group that works out together at cardiac rehab needs our prayers for healing. Harold Pairish worked at the TYC State school here for many years. He had 5 heart bypasses several years ago and just over a year ago they had to go back in and repair them. He recovered from both surgeries and was doing well. What he hadn’t told us and we didn’t know was that years before he had a problem of fluid buildup on his brain and doctors had inserted a shunt in his skull with a tube that ran down inside his neck and into his stomach to drain the fluid. It was working perfectly and he had no problems. But when they did his last heart surgery the doctor accidentally cut the tube running to his stomach allowing the fluid from his brain to simply empty in his body cavity. This had been working okay until last Friday when he suddenly collapsed at home and was unresponsive.

Fortunately, his wife knew about the tube being cut and was certain that the fluid had been blocked and had built up around his brain. He was flown by helicopter to Shannon Hospital in San Angelo to a very fine neurosurgeon there (Dr. Duarte) who repaired the shunt. Harold was still unresponsive until Sunday and then he began to move his fingers etc. at the doctor’s command. By Monday he was more alert and talking a little and asking where he was and what happened. By Tuesday he was greatly improved and told his wife he missed working out with his buddies.

Today, Wednesday, they moved him out of ICU into a private room. At this time we do not know what else may be involved in his recovery and perhaps rehab. I am asking you and your prayer warriors to please pray for Harold Pairish and his wife, Doris, and for Dr. Duarte that God will provide healing, full recovery and restoration for Harold according to His will and to His glory, honor and praise.
Harold is a very active Christian, a leader in his church and a regular attendee at Dallas Huston’s Bible Study on Monday nights. He is one of those people who is always cheerful and makes everyone around him feel good. May God restore him and return him to all that he treasures and to all who treasure him. Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer — you are powerful! – Jerry DeHay
