MISSING MOVIE ACTRESS LOCATED Misty Anne Upham is born on July 6, 1982 in Kalispell, MT. The actress is best known for her role in the 2008 film Frozen River, for which she receives a nomination for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female. Her film credits include: Skinwalkers (2002), Edge of America (2003), Frozen River (2008), August: Osage County (2013) and Jimmy P: Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian (2013). On October 6, 2014 her family reports the 32-year-old Native American actress missing one day after they inform police that she is suicidal. Police spokesman Steve Stocker says they find a body in a ravine near the White River. Authorities find her purse near the body, but medical examiners must make a positive identification.
ANTAGONIST CONFRONTS REDSKINS OWNER WWXX FM Buckland, VA simulcasts ESPN DC Sports-Talk WTEM-980 owned and operated by Washington Redskins owner and Red Zebra Broadcasting founder Dan Snyder. George Washington University professor John Banshee challenges WWXX FM’s license renewal. He claims that the team’s nickname is a racial slur. Red Zebra CEO Rick Carmen responds to those objections: Our response makes clear that under the Communications Act and the First Amendment the FCC should not be in the business of censoring the content of radio stations. Any debate about the Washington Redskins’ name and its meaning should be had in the free marketplace of ideas, not in the halls of the FCC.
CHRISTMAS IS IN THE AIR It is not yet Halloween or even Thanksgiving but already at least two radio stations flip to Christmas music. For the second time since October 17, 2011 Wildwood Crest, NJ’s Radio Equity WEZW FM Soft AC (Easy 93.1) is once again the first radio station that makes the seasonal move to All-Christmas music for the Atlantic City/Cape May market. In Neon-Dayton, OH Alpha Media Modern AC WCLI FM (Click 101.5) stunts with Christmas Music as Santa 101.5 until October 16, 2014 at 10:15 am WCLI FM flips to Classic Country 101.5 Hank-FM. In 2012, KJOT FM Variety Rock hits from the 1960’s through 2000’s goes All-Christmas music for Boise, ID. Then rebrands bringing back 90’s songs into its mostly 70’s/80’s music play list.

DAVE MICHAELS [WSAI-1360/KONO-860/KBUC FM] (Dayton-Huber Heights, OH) Subject: Home Radio Station. JIM … I was going to KONO radio in San Antonio and I stopped by a fellow jock’s home in Dallas (Don Everharte) He worked at KPLX and we were in the car on the way to lunch and he says hear the music on my car radio? He had the AM station set above 1500 KC and then “he” came on the radio and Id’ the station! It was him, next to me in the car! Went back to his house. He had a rack of equipment in the 2d bedroom with a 35 watt exciter and Antenna on the roof. He was broadcasting his own little station throughout the Dallas area on low Power. True Story. JEFF MCCLAIN [KNUZ, KENR, KFMK, WNOE] (Houston-Cleveland, TX) Subject: Back in the Biz. I returned to my roots in radio Saturday night September 27, 2014 on KORG-LP in Cleveland, Texas as the new station manager. The station is owned by “Operation Refuge” a non profit providing food and clothing to people in need. They have been on the air about 10 years under a contemporary Christian format. We flipped the format to Oldies 105.3, Cleveland’s Hometown Radio. With the help of Bob Edwards and a few other good friends from Houston radio of years past I am really proud of it. The music is fantastic, 50 years of R&R. Music we grew up with. We spun the same tunes on turntables on great stations all over the country including Houston. Dallas and San Antonio. We are all about serving the community and providing news and information for the Cleveland area. The community has been without any radio station serving them for over 20 years. I’m looking forward to playing radio again giving the community a station they can be proud of. Check us out. KORG-LP, 105.3 FM if your coming through on Hwy 59 or www.korglp.com/ streaming on the net. That’s good any where you are. Right now we are automated 24/7 with a live morning show coming soon. Kee; \ Jeff McClain, Legal Video Communications

JAY WALKER [ex-KLUV HD-2/KSNN/KYNG/KEGL/WLS-FM etc] (DFW-Chambersville, TX) Subject: Just a quick howdy!!! Jim Glad you are getting WP tamed. I would not have the patience to deal with it for sure. My patience and attention span are both very short these days. Seriously, it’s too bad that Word Press does not have an “import” function so you could import straight from MS Office into Word Press. Heck even being able to import from plain old MS Notepad would be better than having to rework the entire text if you happen to make a mistake… About the only thing I have patience for and the proper amount of attention is restoration of my old (sometimes called boat anchors) Ham Radio equipment. I really enjoy making that old stuff play. My “everyday” station consists of a WRL Globe King 500 watt transmitter manufactured in 1955 and the receiver is an RME 4350 made in 1957 by, of all people, Electro-Voice. I never knew Electro-Voice was in the receiver business. I learn something new everyday…
TRIVIA ANSWER: On BBC’s Graham Norton Show U2 singer Bono confesses the reason why he always wears his funky sun glasses are not a rock-star affectation because he suffers from glaucoma for 20 years. His glaucoma condition is a buildup of pressure that can damage the optic nerve and makes his eyes sensitive to light. In 2005 Bono tells Rolling Stone magazine: If somebody takes my photograph, I will see the flash for the rest of the day. My right eye swells up but I have good treatments and I am going to be fine.
JAY WEAVER [KCUL/KBUY-1540, KPCN-730] (Fort Worth, TX) Subject: Re: Bo Powell. Hi Jim – I just wanted to get back to you and tell you about the memorial service for Bo Powell. It was put together by Johnny Seay, the country singer from some years back. It was in the old Northside Coliseum, now called the Cowtown Coliseum, down in the arena. A preacher, who’s name I didn’t get, and Johnny Seay did a very fine job honoring Bo’s memory. A few other people spoke about Bo, one of which was Bill Mack. Bill told a few stories and had some very nice things to say about Bo. There was a slide show and a prayer in Bo’s memory. It was very nice, about 150 people, to remember the man, Robert “Bo” Powell. TERRY PRATCHETT (April 28, 1948 – p) Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?
