Country Music Association Says Fest To Continue As Planned

The June 4-7 2020 CMA Fest Is Still On The Books Despite Coronavirus Concerns

With the World Health Organization declaring the spread of coronavirus a global pandemic and events canceling left and right, at least one highlight of the country music calendar is still happening — Nashville’s 2020 CMA Fest.

Making a statement via social media Wednesday (March 11), the Country Music Association first expressed concern for fans and artists but announced their show must go on — at least for the time being. Noting that no restrictions are currently in place for travel within the U.S., the CMA says this year’s festival will proceed as scheduled.

“As of today, CMA Fest will proceed as scheduled June 4 – 7 in Nashville,” the post reads. “We are taking appropriate steps to ensure festival grounds will be safe and comfortable for all attendees, including enhanced sanitation protocols and hygiene standards.”

Lineups for the annual city-wide festival have yet to be released, but the news is a welcome change of pace from the onslaught of cancellations and postponements rippling through the country music industry.

Also on Wednesday, organizers decided to end the massive RodeoHouston early, while earlier announcements postponed Stagecoach until October and Nashville’s Tin Pan South Songwriter’s Festival until sometime this summer. In related news, the Academy of Country Music says they ACM Awards are still taking place in Las Vegas on April 5, but they too are monitoring the situation closely.
