ALL THE NEWS THAT IS NEWS
WILDCAT AGGRESSOR SPRAYS TV CREW WITH MACE Goodbye! Adios! Sayonara! While they cover a home invasion WUSA TV reporter Bruce Johnson and photographer Daniell Gill catch the attention of a woman inside a house who demands that the CBS affiliate’s crew exit and keeps yelling at them, Goodbye! When the TV team advises the female that they are standing on public property, she sprays them with mace and gets physical until they agree to leave. On the air Johnson sighs: We don’t know who the young woman was in that video. It’s possible, just possible she could have been one of those people held hostage at gunpoint inside the house. Johnson says they will not file charges. They’ll leave that up to the police.

IS CHINESE TV AHEAD OF AMERICA? Every night even on high priced satellite TV most of the channels are full of infomercials. We search and search the channels but all we find are those infomercials that hawk every snake oil product even vibrating bras. Yes, vibrating bras are products that Ellen Degeneres recently praises on her TV show and now they are on infomercials, too! Well, Chinese media watchdog agency the State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television now seeks to clean up their airwaves of infomercials with strict new limits on the volume of infomercials TV stations are allowed to broadcast. The new guidelines limit broadcasters to a maximum of three minutes per hour and ban infomercials outright from 6 pm to midnight.

Oh how I love to hear things about both of them! I too am still in shock although it is becoming more reality as each day is passing and realizing my morning ride to work will now be silence and no insight to the news in his view as well as no weather report! TONY WILLIAMS [former WKY-930/KRLD-1080] (Dallas-Richardson, TX) …worked at an FM KAFG in OKC. Sometimes I would go to production room and record news or weather. When I came back maybe two reels and the large time check cart were firing at once. For two or three years at WKY, I had a live newsman on all nights. Not even the news/talk station had 24 hours. Early in 1973 at KAKC, Tulsa I had to record newscasts for the AM … and others for the FM. I hated taping. Once on the AM in the PM live, I inadvertently knocked over my stack of carts with actualities because the table was so narrow. So I was trying to read the newscast and the labels on the cart … it was a disaster. WKY always had three-hour shifts except for the six-hour all night one.
