It’s now more than ten years since country artists Joey & Rory brought everyone to tears when they released their hit song, “The Preacher and The Stranger ” It has been said that the lyrics revolves around loss, life’s uncertainties, and the challenges people face when it comes to moving forward and forgiving. “The Preacher and The Stranger” written by Jerry Salley and Carl Cartee tells the story of the troubled preacher who shared his sorrow and bitterness at the death of his son years earlier to a passing stranger taking refuge from the storm in his church. The Preacher confessed that he had prayed so hard to Jesus to save his only son years earlier but as things didn’t turn out the way he expected, he began to doubt God and his faith. As it turned out, the stranger was the repentant drunk driver who killed the preacher’s son.

The combination of their voices indeed contributed to the huge success of “ Preacher and the Stranger” which immediately grabbed the attention of everyone, making it one of their Greatest Hits. Joey + Rory was an American country and bluegrass duo composed of singer-songwriters Rory Feek and Joey Feek, who were husband and wife. Both members of the duo were vocalists and songwriters, with Rory also playing acoustic guitar. Rory Lee Feek had written singles for other artists prior to the duo’s foundation.
