CMA announced today that Alan Jackson, Jerry Reed & Don Schlitz will become the 2017 inductees into the Country Music HOF<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reed will be inducted in the \u201cVeterans Era Artist\u201d category, while Jackson will be inducted in the \u201cModern Era Artist\u201d category. Schlitz will be inducted in the \u201cSongwriter\u201d category, which is awarded every third year in rotation with the \u201cRecording and\/or Touring Musician Active Prior to 1980\u201d and \u201cNon-Performer\u201d categories. Reed, Jackson, and Schlitz will increase membership in the coveted Country Music Hall of Fame from 130 to 133 members.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach of this year\u2019s inductees are well versed performers and songwriters and have helped define Country Music and popular culture,\u201d said Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer.<\/p>\n

He loved Country Music and would be so deeply humbled and appreciative if he was here. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,\u201d said Reed\u2019s daughters, Seidina Hubbard and Lottie Zavala.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jackson said, \u201cFor me to say I\u2019m honored sounds like the standard old response, but for a man who loves Country Music there is no higher honor. This is the mountain top!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI live in the parentheses; I\u2019m just a small part of a wonderful process of making music. This is overwhelming and humbling,\u201d said Schlitz.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Formal induction ceremonies for Reed, Jackson, and Schlitz will take place at the Country Music Hall of Fame\u00ae and Museum in the CMA Theater later this year. Since 2007, the Museum\u2019s Medallion Ceremony, an annual reunion of the Hall of Fame membership, has served as the official rite of induction for new members.<\/p>\n
