Sometimes You Must Confront\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

“If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, <\/strong><\/h3>\n

just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. Matthew\u00a018:15<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Jesus said,\u00a0\u2018…if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.\u2019\u00a0Confronting someone requires these three things: character, courage and caution. Let\u2019s look at each:\u00a01) Character.\u00a0Since Jesus was secure in His identity and character as God\u2019s Son, He was able to let go of the need to please and be accepted by those around Him. Being grounded in who you are in Christ and in what your heavenly Father created you to be, allows you the freedom to confront people when necessary without worrying about the fall-out or the negative consequences.\u00a02) Courage.\u00a0The Pharisees had the power to undermine Christ\u2019s reputation, which eventually led to His death on the cross. But He told them the truth nonetheless. And you must do the same. You must be willing to take up your cross and follow Him, even when it means risking an argument and handling hurt feelings. To \u2018confront\u2019 means to get in \u2018front\u2019 of someone, look into their face, and deal with the issue honestly and lovingly because you value the relationship.\u00a03) Caution.\u00a0Make sure you\u2019re following God\u2019s timing and not your own. It\u2019s easy to use false courage or boldness to challenge others in order to get your own way. It\u2019s easy to claim a confrontation is necessary, when what you actually want is control. No, you must ask God to show you when, how and where to confront others. Your goal should always be to reconcile and restore the relationship. So \u2018go and tell him [or her]\u2019.<\/p>\n

Prayer\u00a0Heavenly Father, <\/strong><\/p>\n

help me to care enough to confront when needed, but to do it in Your timing and in Your love.<\/strong><\/p>\n
