Nashville, Tenn. (June 29, 2012) \u2013 The early reviews are in for The Last Ride, a new film about the final days in the life of country music icon Hank Williams.<\/p>\n

Variety\u00a0<\/em>called it\u00a0\u201can engaging road trip\u201d<\/em>\u00a0and said Hank Williams is\u00a0\u201cpersuasively played by Henry Thomas.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The New York Daily News\u00a0<\/em>described Williams\u2019 music as\u201celoquent<\/em>\u201d and\u00a0\u201cmesmerizing<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

New York Observer\u00a0<\/em>said,\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s a fascinating film that I enjoyed thoroughly.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette\u00a0<\/em>called it\u00a0\u201cA deeply interesting movie.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Oxford American Magazine\u00a0<\/em>editor, Mark Smirnoff, says the The Last Ride is\u00a0\u201cA hypnotic romp about what is possibly country music\u2019s most tantalizing true story.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Terry Stewart, CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame says,\u00a0\u201cFinally, we get a compelling glimpse of both the man and the legend\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"The movie, starring Henry Thomas, Jesse James, Fred Dalton Thompson and Kaley Cuoco, focuses on the period when Williams was getting his life back in order after drugs, alcohol, and two failed marriages had nearly ruined his career.\u00a0 In late 1952, Williams had arranged several shows in West Virginia and Ohio.\u00a0 But, he never got there. \u00a0Somewhere on that last highway, the country music legend passed away on New Year\u2019s Day, in 1953, in the back of his Cadillac, carrying only his guitar and a notebook full of unfinished songs. \u00a0He was 29.\u00a0The Last Ride was inspired by those mysterious last days of Williams\u2019 life.\u00a0The movie\u2019s soundtrack adds to the character of the film with songs from the era sung by popular artists of today, including Jett Williams, the daughter of Hank Williams.\u00a0Jett Williams, Benjy Gaither (the producer of the soundtrack) and Harry Thomason (the film\u2019s director) will appear on Gov.
