The Word from the Top \u00a0\u2013 Part 2<\/strong><\/h2>\n

“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Exodus 20:8<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The fourth commandment says, \u2018Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.\u2019 This commandment wasn\u2019t meant to be interpreted in:\u00a0a) A legalistic way.\u00a0In Jesus\u2019 day there were over fifteen hundred things the Law of Moses said you couldn\u2019t do on the Sabbath, such as bathing, walking too far, or scratching a flea bite.\u00a0b) A loose way.\u00a0The flip side of legalism is license. We go everywhere on Sunday except to church, then excuse ourselves by saying, \u2018I\u2019ll be there in spirit,\u2019 or \u2018I feel closer to God on the golf course or the beach.\u2019 That doesn\u2019t wash with God!\u00a0c) A limited way.\u00a0You can\u2019t attend church on Sunday and ignore God the rest of the week. He\u2019s not just Lord of the Sabbath, He\u2019s Lord of your life. Here\u2019s what the Sabbath was designed to be:\u00a01) A day of rest.\u00a0Restoration begins with rest. Somebody said, \u2018When you love what you do, it\u2019s not work.\u2019 That may be true, but that philosophy can lead to burnout and breakdown. The Psalmist said,\u00a0\u2018He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul\u2019 (Psalms 23:2-3).\u00a0Note the word \u2018still\u2019. Every seventh day God calls \u2018time out\u2019.\u00a02) A day of restoration.\u00a0Toward the end of his life, Bible commentator William Barclay said, \u2018I\u2019m old, and I\u2019ve learned that there are very few things in life that really matter\u2014but those few things matter intensely.\u2019 Worshiping with other believers matters because it highlights those things which are important to God, like His Word, His will, His worship, His call, His grace and His family.<\/p>\n

help me to see the importance of being with others in the Body of Christ and being recharged by them! <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n
