GROWING OLD WITH GRACE.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Misty says, “You’re growing old with grace.<\/span>
\nAnd Grace is getting sick of it.”<\/span><\/p>\n

I’m getting paranoid about age.<\/span>
\nThere are hundreds, maybe thousands of photographs in circulation<\/span>
\ntaken of us when we were younger,<\/span>
\nand now we seem to be in competition with our younger selves.<\/span><\/p>\n

When we meet somebody in the supermarket,<\/span>
\nand they start up a conversation,<\/span>
\nit often ends up with them wanting a business card<\/span>
\nso they can find our home page, or contact us by phone.<\/span>
\nThey are starting to say things like this:<\/span>
\n“WOW! That picture must have been taken a long time ago!”<\/span>
\nWe wrestle with them trying to get the card back,<\/span>
\nbecause, actually, the picture on our card was taken just two years ago!<\/span><\/p>\n

The picture was taken in a good light<\/span>
\nand we were all gussied up for a special occasion.<\/span>
\n(That’s the first time I’ve ever said “gussied up”.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Then we threw away most of the photos taken that night<\/span>
\nand picked the one that looks the least awful.<\/span>
\nIt’s real and looks pretty good,<\/span>
\nbut we don’t come off like that half asleep,<\/span>
\non a hot windy day,<\/span>
\nand under the supermarket Fluorescent lights.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’m thinking of getting cards with terrible pictures on them,<\/span>
\nso people will say good things like<\/span>
\n“Hey, you look great now! I’m glad you survived the train wreck.”<\/span>
\nMaybe a picture of two skeletons.<\/span>
\nBut then they’d say “I see you’ve gained weight.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Maybe we can get cowboy hats with flattering lights under the brims.<\/span>
\nOr wear our hoodies on backwards.<\/span>
\nThose young Misty and Jack brats out there are getting annoying.<\/span><\/p>\n

While looking around for our songs and reviews,<\/span>
\nI actually found a Jack Blanchard grave on Google,<\/span>
\nbut somebody was already in it.<\/span>
\nDamn! All the good graves are taken!<\/span><\/p>\n
