THE PROMO LETTER<\/strong>.\n<\/p>\n

One way for recording artists to promote their latest release
\nis to make contact with the radio station Music Director
\nvia the “Personal Note”, which can be reproduced in quantity,
\nand mailed eleventh class to 12,563 deejays by a machine.<\/p>\n

The sender fondly believes
\nthat each recipient thinks he has been selected
\nto be the artist’s best friend.
\nThe radio people play along with the gag,
\noften telling the artist that his or her record is doing great,
\nwhile throwing it into the wastebasket.<\/p>\n

Misty and I have a new CD, and for show and tell,
\nhere’s a copy of the letter we plan to send out.<\/p>\n

THE PROMO LETTER:
\nTo our good friend (Insert your name):
\nHow have you been? How is your (Check appropriate loved one.)
\n(a) wife?
\n(b) husband?
\n(c) dog?
\n(d) cat?
\n(e) bird?<\/p>\n

We hope you don’t think this is a form letter,
\nbecause we actually had this one copy printed just for you.
\nIf any other deejay claims he got one like it,
\nhe is obviously lying and is jealous of our relationship.<\/p>\n

We aren’t promoting our CD here,
\nwe just don’t want our buddy (Your name)
\nto be caught not playing the hottest record in the industry.<\/p>\n

Just this week we were added to the playlists
\nat radio stations
\nWICK, WARP, WAD, and WIMP, in the east,
\nand we picked up KRAB on the west coast.<\/p>\n

Don’t forget, we love you more than all the other artists do,
\nregardless of what they try to hand you in their letters.
\nBut, don’t let sentiment influence you.
\nPlay the record for its greatness alone,
\nand we’ll give you all the credit when we get the awards.<\/p>\n
