President\u00a0 Obama’s Mexico trip has just taken a turn for the\u00a0 bizarre. This is what\u00a0 President Obama told Mexicans:<\/p>\n

“…I\u00a0 will continue to do everything in my power to pass\u00a0 common-sense reforms that\u00a0 keep guns out of the hands of criminals and dangerous\u00a0 people. That can save\u00a0 lives here in Mexico and back home in the United\u00a0 States.\u00a0 It’s the right thing to do,….”\u00a0 (RCP)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

First,\u00a0 the Obama administration put 2,000 high\u00a0 powered weapons\u00a0 in the hands of\u00a0 Mexican cartels.\u00a0 Did President Obama forget about that\u00a0 little tragic\u00a0 episode from his first term?\u00a0 We hear that\u00a0200-plus\u00a0 Mexicans\u00a0were killed by these weapons.\u00a0\u00a0 Why didn’t President Obama\u00a0 apologize to the soldiers’ families? Or the widows?\u00a0 Or the orphans?<\/p>\n

Second,\u00a0 cartel leaders, or criminals in the US, will continue\u00a0 to have guns because\u00a0 outlaws always do.\u00a0 Can someone remind President Obama\u00a0 of what is\u00a0 happening in Chicago? President\u00a0 Obama’s hometown has very strict gun laws\u00a0 but\u00a0Juarez is Disneyland compared\u00a0 to the killings in Chicago!<\/p>\n

Third,\u00a0 all\u00a0 of these guns are\u00a0already outlawed in Mexico and\u00a0 in the US.<\/p>\n

How do you say “The Twilight Zone” in\u00a0 Spanish?\u00a0 I think that it’s “La dimension desconocidad,” i.e. the unknown\u00a0 dimension literally.<\/p>\n

There is a “gun problem’ and lots of cartel\u00a0 violence in Mexico.\u00a0 However, it is one of those “perfect storm” problems\u00a0 that won’t get fixed with a “hope and change” speech before university\u00a0 students.<\/p>\n

Indeed, many guns come from the US.\u00a0 They also\u00a0 come in from Central America. They come in because very “liquid” cartels buy\u00a0 weapons in a very big international gun black market. They come\u00a0 in because of\u00a0 corruption in Mexico. They come in because Mexico does\u00a0 not do a better job of\u00a0 protecting the southbound traffic on the border.
\nAnd 2,000 high powered\u00a0 weapons came in because of “Fast & Furious.”
\nHonestly, there is one\u00a0 thing that we could do to curtail the cartel violence in Mexico: Stop consuming\u00a0 so many illegal drugs!\u00a0 We are putting billions of dollars in the pockets\u00a0 of cartels by consuming these drugs.
