O’SHEA FLEES TO THE CHANNEL ISLANDS <\/span><\/b>Lawrence Amaturo recently buys five radio stations from Maverick Media in Santa Rosa, CA under its new name of Sonoma. Radio Ink reports that Michael O’Shea resigns his position as VP\/GM of Saga’s Cascade Radio Group in Bellingham Washington to become the Market Manager for the newly formed Sonoma Media Partners<\/i>. Mike elaborates: I\u2019ll be joining long-time friend and associate Lawrence Amaturo, the architect of this transaction, and former owner of the stations in Santa Rosa<\/i>. O’Shea is with Saga since 2008. In 1972, during my time as a newscaster in Ted Agnew’s wonderful group at KLIF-1190, Michael O’Shea is its dashing Program Director. At the time, good buddy John Butler with his deep voice is a DJ there, also. <\/span><\/p>\n

LIMBAUGH BACK ON TV?<\/span><\/b> Do you remember when Conservative Talk icon Rush Limbaugh shines bright on both radio and TV? From 1992 through 1996, Roger Ailes produces Limbaugh’s syndicated half-hour TV show. Since Rush is 16, he has a series of DJ positions. In 1984, his talk show begins on KFBK-1530 in Sacramento, CA. In 1988, he goes national from the studios of WABC-770 in New York City. In 2012, Talkers Magazine lists Limbaugh as the most-listened-to talk show host with a weekly audience of 15 million<\/i>. Latest rumor is that Rush Limbaugh might buy national TV time to reach people who do not hear his radio show<\/i>. Limbaugh says one obstacle might be an aversion by the networks, which are left-leaning politically, to grant him airtime because of their disdain for him<\/i>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

DOG AND BETH GO ON THE HUNT!<\/span><\/b> For many years one of my favorite TV programs is Dog the Bounty Hunter<\/i> on cable channel A&E. Duane and Beth Chapman and family are America’s foremost bounty hunters. We fellow radio and TV broadcasters know full well that our industry is replete with politics. Variety reports that A&E declines to order additional installments of their #1 series because of production differences. It runs for 8 seasons. The final new episodes of Dog the Bounty Hunter<\/i> begin airing on June 2, 2013 on A&E. CMT TV is on the fast track to beef up their cable channel so they become Dog the Bounty Hunter<\/i>‘s new home with a new title, Dog and Beth: On The Hunt<\/i>, plus more elaborate production techniques. Catch Dog and Beth: On The Hunt<\/i> at 8\/7 CT on Sunday nights. <\/span><\/p>\n

REMEMBER WHEN?<\/span><\/b> In search of electronic antiques, TWICE reporter Joseph Palenchar pays a visit to high-ceiling turn-of-the-century homes, old barns, and dark, decrepit cinder-block buildings that must have once been home to thriving commercial enterprises<\/i>. What does he find? I can’t tell you how blessed I am to have so many dear friends. I am typing with my left hand only, so pardon my mistakes. I only wish I could contact each of you individually, but don’t have the stamina. had surgery on left foot about two weeks ago after a billion medical tests. synopsis…left foot amputated partially, only have half of left foot now. procedure was successful after seeing my surgeon yesterday. not able to put any weight bearing on foot yet,thus very, very difficult to maneuver. this, with a severely sprained right arm from fall has made life for me difficult. your prayers were heard, as I faced a possible amputation on left leg up to knee, but was not necessary. I am recouping at home, with home health care. god bless you all for your responses and well wishes. I’m drained from typing so I’ll sign off now, but will be in touch soon. oh, surgeon says I may start walking with special brace in about two weeks. for now it’s wheelchair city. I was in Nashville in the 80’s to do commercials for Blazer Financial Services of Miami. I had to take a guitar and sing for a bunch of salesmen from Blazer. Late in the evening one of them said, “Jim you know all the country stars, let’s go to Printers’ Alley and catch George Jones”. I’d never been there but the desk clerk gave me directions. We found George’s club and some lesser known singer was on the stage. The Blazer guys were getting drunker by the minute and finally George came in. I went over to him and asked him to sing before the loud bunch of drunks tore the joint down. Old George said, “Well I guess I could do that for another Texan”!
