Taylor Swift shocked a lot of people this week. One of the biggest pop stars in the world endorsed Democratic candidate Phil Bredesen over Republican Marsha Blackburn in the Tennessee senatorial race. And Swift’s fans were furious that she made this endorsement. Taylor Swift is a ten-time Grammy Award-winning pop singer. Part of the reason why people love her so much is that Swift always stayed away from politics.
Swift always stayed away from politics
The liberal media desperately tried to get her to condemn President Trump but she refused to do so. That’s why it was a bit of a shock that she posted a political Instagram rant the other day.
Swift endorsed Tennessee Democrat Phil Bredesen and attacked Republican candidate Marsha Blackburn on social media. And her fans weren’t happy about it.
One of her Twitter followers, simply said, “be quiet and sing!country fans are gonna be disappointed.” Janice one of thousands of Twitter fans
In fact, Janice was right, many of Swift’s fans were furious with her recent political actions.
Lori Perkins said it best, “Marsha Blackburn believes principles that have blessed this country for over 200 years. She believes in principles given to us by God. You now align yourself with Hollywood which is a cauldron of godlessness. I once liked and respected you so much.”
This is exactly what Hollywood does. Hollywood shames working class Americans because they live in “bubbles,” when in fact they’re the ones who live outside the societal norms. Michael Morrow even said that the former Tennessee governor, Bredesen, had a litany of sexual scandals. And he was right.
The Tennessee Star reported in 2017 that Bredesen had a long record of “covering up sexual assault allegations.”They reported, “Tennessee Democrat Phil Bredesen, a top party recruit who announced his Senate campaign on Thursday morning, was criticized for hiding details of sexual assault investigations into his top officials…” But none of that seemed to matter to Taylor Swift. Either she’s uninformed or refuses to accept it. That’s the only thing that makes sense here. Swift attacked Blackburn for voting against women’s rights.
She wrote, “Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values.”
Well what are Swift’s so-called “Tennessee values?” Tennessee people vote them in for a reason. That’s cut and dry. The irony is that Bredesen eventually backed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh amid his sexual assault allegations. It’s important to note that he was late to the party on that decision. Blackburn criticized him for taking too long as well.
But what makes Swift’s “values” more important than the rest of them? Swift even said in her Instagram post, “Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway.”
It looks like Swift needs to educate herself before she throws shade at Marsha Blackburn. Bredesen has a history of covering up sexual assault allegations.
Swift’s endorsement spiked voting registration too.
The pop star has a staggering 83.6 million followers. And now that she’s come out as a liberal Democrat, then you better believe her influence over her followers is quite large. Celebrity culture is huge in America. Liberals love to flock to them. That’s exactly why Hollywood wields so much power. It wasn’t long ago that these elitists stayed out of politics. Now, they’re just throwing their fans under the bus with their biased liberal politics.
