Jo Dee Messina Releases Brand-New Inspirational Song, ‘Bigger Than This’
Messina has two young sons, 8-year-old Noah and 5-year-old Jonah.
When Jo Dee Messina was diagnosed with cancer last year, the 47-year-old singer admitted the ordeal seriously tested her faith. However, thankfully, she’s now feeling better—and she has a new song that came out of that intense struggle.
The singer shared the song during a world-premiere performance on Huckabee on Saturday night (April 7), which you can hear above. The lyrics speak of being overwhelmed, with “waves crashing in” and “darkness surrounding,” before going into the uplifting chorus: “My God is bigger than this, His love is greater.”
Messina’s song is available for download and she explains its inspiration in her own words: “In the summer of 2017, I was facing struggles with my health, personal life and finances. It seemed like everything was crashing in around me. My heart was really moved, not to focus on the chaos of life, but the bigness of God. At that point and from that place of praise and worship came this song.”
Messina’s career started in the mid-90s and included No. 1 hits like “Bye, Bye” and “I’m Alright,” plus a duet with Tim McGraw called “Bring on the Rain” and her final hit, “My Give a Damn’s Busted” from 2005. Her last studio album was Me, released in 2014. Messina has two young sons, 8-year-old Noah and 5-year-old Jonah.
