Earlier this morning, it was reported that country recording artist, Daryle Singletary, had unexpectedly passed away at the age of 46. One of the purest old-school voices in country music, the news sent shock waves throughout the community, who were quick to express their thoughts: “Daryle Singletary was an amazing voice and so non-assuming. I would watch him walk in nonchalantly with his guitar, drift up to the microphone and proceed to come out with the most beautifully rich voice—a voice that seemed to contradict the man you were seeing.
When you talked to him, he appeared to have a deep, self-confidence that allowed him to just be who he was. No airs that indicated he might just be that best singer in the room. I loved the gentleness he appeared to possess. I don’t claim to have known him well, but what I did know I loved. I felt comfortable being around him and certainly enjoyed his talent.
Rest with the Lord, Daryle.” -Larry Black and the “Country Family Reunion” Crew
“What sad news to hear this morning! Daryle was a good friend of mine and one of my favorite singers! Our prayers are with his family.” -T. Graham Brown, Grammy-Nominee, Country Soul/Gospel Recording Artist
“I was so sad to hear about Daryle Singletary. We were label mates at Koch Records. He was such a ‘true country’ singer–he and his voice will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, my friend.” – Sammy Sadler, Country Music Recording Artist
“I cannot wrap my head around his untimely passing. He was the greatest country singer I have ever had the pleasure of working with in my 30 years in Nashville. I have truly lost the brother I never had today. May God bless his family and the country music community during this time of tremendous loss.” – Chuck Rhodes, Business Partner and Friend of 21 years
Condolences continue to pour out from the country music family for yet another incredible talent silenced much too soon. Daryle Singletary is survived by his wife, Holly, and their four children (ranging in age from 3 to 7 years of age). Arrangements are pending.
