Iconic country traditionalist Mark Chesnutt was forced to cancel his appearance overseas at music festival in Millport, U.K. due to the natural disaster in his home state of Texas.
Chesnutt is unable to leave his neighborhood due to the extreme flooding from Hurricane Harvey. The storm reached Beaumont on Sunday, dumping 20 inches of rain, with continued rain and flooding on Tuesday. As a result, Chesnutt and neighbors lost access to running water and the Beaumont Airport has been temporarily closed.
“I’m safe and my family is safe, and we are among the lucky ones to have only sustained minor damage to our home. Though I am disappointed to cancel my appearances, I am mostly thankful for my fans everywhere and hope they’re safe too,” Chesnutt said.
Chesnutt plans to return to the road Sept. 09 in Gstaad, Switzerland and resume his touring schedule.

THOUSAND YEAR STORM STRIKES HOUSTON This week is one of the worst of my lifetime. When Hurricane Harvey misses Houston, TX and makes landfall in Corpus Christi’s nearby Rockport, Suzie and I in our second floor apartment breathe a sigh of relief. But Harvey’s enormous nonstop rain overfills Addicks dam. They release trillions of gallons of water into Buffalo Bayou one mile south of us. It strands my car 4 miles away. Gina, Suzie’s vet, rescues her. Suzie is back. Please pray, our car still marooned 4 miles away.
FOX FIRES SIMPSONS COMPOSER After 27 years of providing animation music for The Simpsons, Fox producer Richard Sakai fires The Simpsons’ Two-time Emmy winner Alf Clausen. Simpsons producer tells Clausen he now seeks a different kind of music for the longtime Fox hit. Alf is the most-nominated composer in Emmy history with a total of 30 nominations overall. Speculation about Clausen’s dismissal involves cost-cutting measures. Fox names no new Simpsons composer for its October 1, 2017 season premiere.
