Nashville Meets London Music Festival Returns with Highly Anticipated Talent Lineup

The 2017 lineup has been announced for the highly anticipated music festival, Nashville Meets London, set for July 22-23 in Canada Square Park, Canary Wharf. This year’s talent lineup includes US-based acts Russell Dickerson, Lucie Silvas, Ashley Campbell, Sam Outlaw, Angaleena Presley, Jo Smith, and , along with UK-based acts Flats & Sharps, Wildwood Kin, Kevin McGuire, and Raintown.

The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) serves as a sponsor of the two-day event, designed to bring the “Music of Nashville” abroad, showcasing musical talent from both Nashville and the United Kingdom. The festival is free and open to the public to attend. Representatives from TNECD will be in attendance for this year’s event.

The site of the annual festival, Canada Square Park, is located in the heart of Canary Wharf, that hosts over 300 shops, bars and restaurants. For the past eleven years, Canary Wharf has hosted the Canary Wharf Jazz Festival, which is largest free jazz festival in the UK. Canary Wharf Arts + Events presents a world class, year-round arts and events program, offering tenants and visitors over 200 diverse and culturally inspired events throughout the estate. The majority of these events are free for all and range from outdoor theatre, live music concerts, sporting events, dance performances, community showcases, global street food and family friendly shows.

The inaugural Nashville Meets London festival took place in August 2016. The event drew an impressive number of people and left an overwhelmingly positive response among UK-based Country music fans and locals. Nashville Meets London is co-produced by Canary Wharf Arts + Events, Peter Conway Management and Nashville-based agency, The AristoMedia Group. Baylen Leonard, BBC Radio 2 Country and Chris Country DJ, is the artistic program consultant.

CHARLES GEORGE [KC5RAI, ex KCHU FM] (Dallas, TX) Subject: Outlaw Country. I think it helped to move Country Music to audiences that would not listen otherwise. Like I enjoy the Possum 92.1 wherever it is located. Not the best signal in my part of town. Like I use to wonder why a person would listen to Pat Boone instead of Hank Ballard and/ or Joe Turner doing a song, since theirs were much better. I just watched an interesting movie that came from Netflix, Edge Of America. I think it was originally done for Showtime. I would recommend but would not review it since do not want to give away too much information. I think any one in Sports or Broadcasting would like the movie. As for as Fads, my favorite station in High School was KFAD 94.9, though KNUS, KZEW, KAFM, KTXQ lasted longer. Makes me think of a song by Carole King with the words, “Doesn’t anyone stay in one place anymore.” 73, Charles, KC5RAI
