Gary Allan Releases New Single “Mess Me Up”
USA Today: Give Gary a great song & few singers in country music can touch him
Today, EMI Nashville’s Gary Allan delivers his sexy new single, “Mess Me Up” which marks “a return to form for the cool California country singer” (Rolling Stone Country). Co-written by three of Nashville’s most revered songwriters: Ashley Gorley, Ross Copperman and Shane McAnally, and co-produced by Allan alongside Copperman and Greg Droman, “Mess Me Up” will go for adds at Country Radio on Tuesday, May 30.
“I have been a fan of ‘Mess Me Up’ since the first time I heard the demo,” Allan tells Rolling Stone Country. “It sounded like a song I could have written, or wish I had written. From the first time I played it live, it got a huge reaction from the fans. It is definitely a fan favorite, and I am glad it is now a single.”
“Mess Me Up” fits in seamlessly with two decades of smoldering hot heartbreak songs delivered in Allan’s signature style including “Smoke Rings In The Dark,” “See If I Care,” “Songs About Rain,” and “It Ain’t The Whiskey.” The new single will be featured on his forthcoming studio album which will serve as the follow up to his #1 Billboard 200 and Billboard Top Country Albums chart-topper SET YOU FREE.
With the allure of a modern day outlaw, Gary Allan has won over fans, peers and critics with his signature blend of smoldering vocals, rebellious lyrics and raucous live performances. While becoming a force on the country music scene, Allan has remained true to his artistic voice each step of the way. Allan just re-signed with Universal Music Group Nashville, the label home for the entirety of his twenty-year career. His last album, SET YOU FREE, topped the Billboard 200 (Pop Chart), a career first for Allan. The album also made its debut at the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart (for the fourth time in a row) and produced his fifth #1 country radio chart topper with “Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain).” The California native released his first album, Used Heart for Sale, in 1996 and since then has released eight additional studio albums selling over 7 million albums, been certified platinum on three back-to-back albums, and been certified gold five times. Allan has five #1 hits at country radio, fourteen Top 10 hits to his credit and amassed over 1.4 billion streams. He’s described as “dark and dreamy” in Entertainment Weekly, “soulful and rough around the edges” in Playboy and deemed a “maverick” by Rolling Stone. He sells out venues as a headliner from NY to LA, appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Live with Kelly and Michael and Jimmy Kimmel Live. He has also landed on the covers of Country Weekly, Pollstar and People magazine.
As USA Today has claimed, “Give Gary Allan a great song and few singers in country music can touch him.”
