“There was a nostalgic feeling between the three of us while in the studio for this record, a feeling that was more reminiscent of our first albums,” said Jay DeMarcus. “The journey we’ve all been on together is unreal and I can honestly say I’m even more excited about what is ahead for us. Back to Us is not only a title of a song on the album, but a feeling that has been building around this new music. It just fits in so many ways.”
“With this being our tenth album, we knew we wanted to be careful and deliberate in how we approached it,” said Gary LeVox. “This time around, the three of us have been able to really focus and work together on what we want to say at this point in our careers. We’ve all been so energized by the process of making this album and we still have a lot more music to make and we still actually like each other….for now.”
“Even though we do love to joke around, one of the best parts of being in the band is how much we really do enjoy each other’s company,” said Joe Don Rooney. “I think the comradery while recording Back to Us has really lent itself to the spirit of the songs. We’re so excited for everyone else to hear how much fun we had making this.”

JACK PARNELL [ex PD/DJ WHBQ-560] (Memphis, TN) Subject: Roy Mack. Jim: On Saturday, March 25, a great broadcaster, Roy Mack died in Memphis, his hometown. His real name was Roy McElwain, and he was 76 years old. He had a great career at WMPS in Memphis, and WHBQ, also in Memphis. While still at WMPS, he managed a garage band named The Devilles. Later they changed their name to The Boxtops, and Roy managed them through many hits, beginning with “The Letter”, which hit the top 10 immediately and was followed by other great sellers “Cry Like A Baby”, “Soul Deep”, “Neon Rainbow” and others. As Roy wound down on all the travels, he began producing some country records, and became very adept at that job also. Jack Parnell-former DJ/Program Director-WHBQ Radio, Memphis, TN.

BEN HAROLD [ex KXOL-1360, KLIF-1190, KNUZ-1230, KENR-1070] (Knoxville, TN) Subject: jrrr. Hi Jim! Sorry I haven’t been in touch, feeling rather poorly. I’d greatly appreciate ALL the prayers I can get, please! It’s been a LONG time since my KXOL, KLIF, KNUZ, KENR days (plus too many more to mention). Most of us “old-timers” STILL seem to be hanging in here. Sadly, we’ve lost too many “greats” along the way. Ben Harold, Knoxville, TN.

JASON WAYNE [ex KNOW-1490] (San Antonio, TX) Oh yes I agree 100% Jim. A great time to live in Austin !!! What a success story of a station located at 1490 AM, 1000w daytime/250w nighttime, from a 190ft. tower located way over on the east side of town. All the best to you and Suzie, jason wayne [goggans]
TRIVIA ANSWER: On March 31, 1949 after nine years of development, RCA Victor introduces the first 45 rpm record, a 7-inch wonder that promises better sound and easier playability than the current standard, the 10″ 78 rpm record which is very brittle. It competes with the Long Playing record that Columbia introduces a year earlier. The first 45 rpm is Texarkana Baby by Country & Western singer Eddy Arnold. The disc is made of green vinyl to color-code singles according to their style of music. Others include yellow for children’s songs and red for classical music.
LESLIE WAYNE HODGES [ex KCRS-550] (Lake Livingston, TX) When 99.3 FM Tyler, Longview, White Oak, Texas first came out the chute in 2003 it was The Bull put on the air by Engineer James McWain that I worked with in Midland 1971-1975 on KCRS 550 AM then again on KAGG Aggie 96 Country w/out The Bull Madisonville-College Station 1992-1993. Bizarre what is happening on the dial. Most likely so that agency advertisers like Kroger who will only advertise on radio stations that are in the top 2 or three age 19 to 37 male and female. Listening to the music of Maximum Hits 99.3 FM sounds like pimps and thugs who loot and plunder will listen to this. Thus apparently in larger enough numbers but yet do these have the buying power to support a Kroger, Dr. Pepper, Pepsi, Coke and Wrigley’s I see as big buys on Maximum Hits 99.3 FM Tyler, Longview, White Oak, Whitehouse, Texas. The music was too tough for me to listen to at 7:25 this morning. Oh still no live talent between these bongs to make a connection with me as an active listener. Leslie Wayne Hodges; Marshall, TX
ERNEST HEMINGWAY (July 21, 1899 – July 2, 1961) When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen.

Before You Were Born, God Knew Your Destiny. Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah:1:5I – *I formed you. *I knew you. *I sanctified You. *I ordained you.
When the Lord told Jeremiah he was ordained to be a prophet to the nations, he might have wondered if God had really thought this thing though! He began offering reasons why he wasn’t qualified to fulfill the destiny God had for him. ” Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak for I am a youth” (Jeremiah 1:6)
But God knew exactly what He was doing. As the call itself indicates, He had through it through quite thoroughly: ” This is no spontaneous decision on My part, Jeremiah. Don’t you realize that I knew everything about you wile your mother was still carrying you? Don’t you realize I have had this destiny mapped out for you all along.”
God had; planned tor this moment; and with joy, He looked forward to the deep satisfaction of seeing His child put to use the gifts that were so lovingly reserved for him. When Jeremiah protested his youthful inexperience, God reassured him: “I am with you to deliver you”( v.8). He put His hand on Jeremiah’s lips and said, “Behold I have put My words in your mouth (v.9) .
Just as He did with Jeremiah, God treasures the moments in which He sees us growing into what He designed us to be and moving toward the destiny He has planned for us. The same is true in human relationships. John Ortberg “If I love someone, it means I have certain hopes and intentions and wishes for them. I’m in their corner. I long for them to flourish and blossom . I want them to realize all their potential. I want them to become filled with virtue and moral beauty.”
The difference is that with God’s love, these treasures exist before we do. He has reserved them for us from the very beginning . Paul speaks of this eternal knowledge and love of God when he writes to the Galatians about his own calling. He explains that God “separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles” (Galatians 1:15-16a).
Just as God had a destiny for Jeremiah & for Paul He also has a destiny for each of us one that He designed before we were born
