Carrie Underwood’s Performance At Hockey Game

Watch Carrie Underwood’s Surprise Performance of the

National Anthem Before The Nashville Predators Hockey Game

Before the Nashville Predators and Chicago Blackhawks took the ice for Game 3 of their playoff series, Carrie Underwood surprised those in attendance by singing the national anthem.

“Please rise and welcome seven-time Grammy winner and longtime Nashville Predators fan Carrie Underwood, as we honor the United States with the singing of the national anthem,” said the Bridgestone Arena announcer as the crowd voiced its approval.

Carrie was decked out in a No. 12 Predators jersey, the same number her husband, Mike Fisher, wears as captain of the Preds. Carrie also shared a pic and video on Instagram, and she was understandably excited after the Predators won the game in overtime to take a 3–0 lead in the series.

Carrie Underwood is a rabid fan of the Nashville Predators. Well, she kind of HAS to be. Her husband Mike Fisher plays for the team, yet even he didn’t know she would be opening the game up with a performance of the National Anthem. It was a treat for both Mike, as well as the arena full of unsuspecting fans.

George Strait Extends His 2 Nights of Number 1’s

George Strait Extends His “2 Nights of Number 1’s” to July 28-29

Following right on the boot heels of his wildly successful Two Nights of Number 1’s at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas earlier this month, the King of Country George Strait announced that directly due to the overwhelming fan reaction, he will continue the concept of playing his record-setting collection of 60 Number One hits again in July.

“Back when we announced 2 Nights of Number 1’s, I said if the fans wanted to hear more, we would look at it,” says Strait, who has won every honor in the format from a GRAMMY Award for Best Country Album to multiple ACM and CMA Awards for Entertainer of the Year plus a coveted place in the Country Music Hall of Fame. “Well, we heard them loud and clear. This is something they want more of, so that’s what they will get.”

Strait debuted the unprecedented two nights of No. 1’s during his recent T-Mobile Arena shows on April 7th-8th. With an unmatched 60 singles hitting the top of the charts during the span of his career and more than 280,000 fans streaming Strait’s 60 #1 Hits playlist on Spotify every month, Strait wanted to showcase these radio hits plus several fan-favorites such as “Troubadour” that, surprisingly to many, never reached No. 1.

He did it by playing 30 No. 1 hits on April 7th and 30th No. 1 hits on April 8, in addition to those “can’t miss” classics from the early hits like “Fool Hearted Memory” and “You Look So Good In Love” to more recent hits including “River of Love” and “I Saw God Today” – and the 56 No. 1’s in between.

Strait stepped away from touring in 2014 with The Cowboy Rides Away Tour, culminating with a Texas-sized farewell concert at AT&T Stadium near Dallas that drew a record-setting attendance of 104,793. In 2015, he revealed that he would perform a limited series of exclusive, worldwide engagements at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas that commenced with a pair of at-capacity shows in April 2016 with fellow Texan Kacey Musgraves. In November, it was announced that the unparalleled, sold-out series would continue through 2017, including his most recent dates with GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter Cam.

Strait may have closed the book on touring, but the exclusive engagements at T-Mobile Arena provide him with a new page and the ability to connect with fans on his terms and create concert experiences that stay fresh and compelling. Rolling Stone called the historical 2 Nights of Number 1’s shows “extraordinary” and the Las Vegas Review-Journal duly noted that “Strait receives something like 10 standing ovations around the venue every night.”

Upcoming dates include:
Friday, July 28, 2017
Saturday, July 29, 2017
Friday, Sept. 1, 2017
Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017
Friday, Dec. 8, 2017
Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017

Tickets and VIP packages for the July 28-29 2 Nights of Number 1’s shows are on sale now. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit StraitToVegas.com.

Strait has once again partnered with CID Entertainment to offer VIP Experiences and Travel Packages for all upcoming Strait to Vegas shows. VIP Experience amenities range from access to the King’s Exhibit featuring memorabilia showcasing George Strait’s career to a signed coffee table book with rare and previously unreleased photos. All VIP Experiences include premium concert tickets and exclusive merchandise gifts. Travel Packages include Strait to Vegas tickets, plus hotel accommodations and exclusive merchandise. For full package details, visit CID Entertainment.

Many of the songs that Strait will be performing during 2 Nights of Number 1’s are also featured on Strait Out of the Box: Part 2, available now. The three-disc, 56-track collection spans 20 years of Strait’s remarkable career from 1996 to 2016 and offers fans two new songs with “Kicked Outta Country” and “You Gotta Go Through Hell,” both of which Strait co-wrote. Thomas Rhett Brings Home Team Tour to Nashville

Thomas Rhett Brings ‘Home Team Tour’ to Nashville

Rhett’s headlining 2017 Nashville’s Home Team Tour dates tally 15 sold-out shows

Thomas Rhett brought his Home Team Tour to Nashville, performing back-to-back sold out shows at Ascend Amphitheater (4/20 and 4/21). More than 13,600 fans packed the venue over the course of the two nights, despite a constant downpour Friday night. Thomas Rhett put on a show that was “a whole lot of fun” (The Tennessean) joined by tour openers Kelsea Ballerini, Ryan Hurd and Russell Dickerson.

Thomas RhettThomas Rhett’s set was a “hit parade” (Rare) as he performed favorites like platinum-selling songs “Crash And Burn,” “T-Shirt,” “It Goes Like This,” “Die A Happy Man” and more. On night one, Thomas Rhett surprised fans by bringing out Dierks Bentley as the two performed the hit “Somewhere On A Beach” while Danielle Bradbery joined him for a duet of “Playing With Fire.”

Maren Morris also made a surprise appearance as she and Thomas Rhett performed “Craving You” the “driving, sexy” (Rolling Stone) new lead single from his highly-anticipated third studio album. O’REILLY’S NEXT STOP After such a massive shakeup, where does someone of Bill O’Reilly’s magnitude land back on his feet? Because of his high voltage exposure, all of the alphabet networks are out of the picture. When O’Reilly’s non-compete clause runs out about six months from now, O’Reilly is free as a bird to land in any nest. JRRR predicts a possibility of Conservative media company Newsmax with its TV network (on cable and online), website, magazine and newsletter. Newsmax can use Bill O’Reilly’s superstar power.

50 YEAR HOUSTON, TX NEWS ANCHOR STEPS DOWN You may notice that we say steps down instead of retire. We do not believe that the word retire is in KTRK TV CH 13 Houston, TX Dave Ward’s vocabulary. In November 1966, newscaster Dave Ward exits KNUZ-1230 for a gig on KTRK TV as reporter and photographer. Ward never dreams that his news anchor position on KTRK TV last 50 years when many others bow out sooner. May 2, 2017 is the final day that Dave Ward appears in KTRK TV’s 6 pm news anchor chair.

TRIVIA ANSWER: In the late 1950s, the FCC considers several systems to add stereo to FM radio. The FCC rejects the Crosby system because it is incompatible with existing subsidiary communications authorization (SCA) services. The FCC rejects the Halstead system due to lack of high frequency stereo separation and reduction in the main channel signal-to-noise ratio. On April 20, 1961 the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approves the GE and Zenith systems of FM stereo broadcasting.

I was a character named Hog Waller (WKY TV). The Foreman Scotty show out rated another kiddie show called Beanie and Cecil which was on at the same time on ABC…we had the only TV show to beat Beanie and Cecil in the USA. There was talk about us going onto the full Net on Saturdays, but my deadly deed cancelled that. When the museum called me to ask for a pair of the overalls. I simply went out and bought a pair and washed them before sending them to the museum… (www.chuckdunawaydj.com/)

CC MCCARTNEY [ex KILT-610, KRBE FM, Voice Imaging] (Nashville, TN) It was early in 1974, I was doing early nights at KIMN (950), Denver and we had one of those all glassed incased control rooms. I had a request to play Stairway to Heaven and I was about ready for a nice 6 minute break, when this loud roaring sound started to cover the sounds of my monitors. Just as I looked up, I saw an old Dodge literally in my lobby. This guy ran his car up the outside stairs and thru the plate glass windows and from my control room I was maybe 5 feet from his smoking machine. I jumped up to see if he was alright and he said “ yes **** it, I was trying to kill myself”. After a short pause I told him when John McGuiness, The GM hears about this, he may still get his wish! I was a brassy jerk and grabbed her and (being a good sport) we swayed around the control room a bit. I remember how tiny she was. Read with interest your note on KOB-TV Albuquerque being the first TV station between the Mississippi River and the West Coast. Folks here in St. Louis are proud that KSD-TV went on the air on Feb. 8, 1947, which pre-dates KOB (April 5, 1948) by more than a year. CHARLES GEORGE [ex KCHU FM-KC5RAI] (Dallas, TX) Subject: Future Radio. I don’t think Digital will kill FM. One reason is even in Dallas there, are places Digital Signals do not as well as either FM or AM. Also with Digital persons have, to subscribe, whereas, my radios can be turned on. If anything Kills radio it will be too many stations not developing new Talent, so as to keep it Fresh and not become a bore. Like some persons still blame those no longer around. Like a Patriarch, Gerhard Schuttger, from my church I grew up in passed away. I had mixed feelings, since we often disagreed but I knew he cared a lot for others. I often am more convinced by the actions of others over what they tell me. I am not much on trying to convert those, especially those converted and older than me. I am more of the type that likes stations with: More Music And Less Talk. Though I know it was fun hearing a DJ could talk up to the vocals on the start of a song where there was an instrumental. I think those who have made a career in Broadcasting often think differently than those that have not. I maybe wrong about the future of radio, but not getting rid of the ones I own. Though may not worth anything in the future. Anyway here are some photos of what I like listening to. 73, KC5RAI, Charles George

Josh Turner’s “Hometown Girl” #1 At Country Radio

Josh Turner’s “Hometown Girl” Reaches #1 At Country Radio

MCA Nashville’s Josh Turner takes the No. 1 spot on the MediaBase country radio airplay chart with “Hometown Girl.” Written by Marc Beeson and Daniel Tashian, “Hometown Girl” immediately hit home for Turner’s fans as it “pairs the South Carolina native’s unmistakable, country-to-the-core baritone with a modern, rollicking beat” (Rolling Stone).

“‘Hometown Girl’ is officially No. 1!” shares an elated Turner via Twitter. “Thank you God, country radio and MCA Nashville! It’s Party Time!!

“Hometown Girl,” off of the multi-platinum-selling star’s No. 1-debuting album, Deep South, tallies over 200,000 in digital sales and with 16 consecutive weeks of streaming growth, the song totals over 87.5M streams.
