Today’s Inspiration Station With Rhonnie Scheuerman
Ever since our first visit, my husband, Jerry and I had dreamed of living in Hawaii
Now we are finally going to do it, and I’d booked a airfare with a connecting flight. I was thrilled to be going to scout out real estate- until I saw the tinny Cessna plane we’d take from, Maui to the big Island. Attendants had weighed everyone and their baggage to make sure the plane would be balanced. “You can do this,” Jerry said as we took our seats among the other passengers. “I’ts only thirty minutes. “Then I saw the pilot.
A man next to me murmured , “He doesn’t look old enough to drive a car , much less a plane.”
“We’ll bounce a bit in the wind until we get up to ten thousand feet ,” The pilot cheerfully announced . “Buckler up.”
We bumped, jerked and rocked through the sky. My heart pounded. Jerry gripped my hand, but that wasn’t enough.
Pray ! I thought. But I was too scared. I couldn’t think of what to say. I whispered the only words that came to mind. “Our Father who art in heaven…” Slow and steady, visualizing each phrase, lingering over every word, I recited the prayer over and over, from beginning to end, keeping my eyes shut all the way.
We touched down and I stumbled off the plane on shaky legs. Jerry and I spent a week looking at properties. Then I had to board that tiny plane again. I buckled in ,and waited for the panic. But it didn’t come. I knew how to keep myself calm now. “Our Father who art in heaven…”
