Welcome To Nashville’s Pop’nRock Downtown Bars
They drove over 1000 miles to visit Nashville and couldn’t hear any Country Music
The other day it was almost 100 degrees with the heat index in Nashville and I overheard some real people who were in town wanted to visit lower Broadway to be immersed as they said in the Nashville experience. Their guide was looking for one thing and that was a sign that said AIR CONDITIONED. He found such a sign along with the familiar LIVE BAND written right next to it. They went in and the first song they heard was ………… ” Free Bird” or ” Freebird” which is a power ballad by the American rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. They all looked at each other and said that ain’t country. Their guide said I know but the music has changed in Nashville. Their response to that was where can we go and hear some Country Music? He proceeded to tell them not downtown. On the outskirts of Nashville there are still a few die hards playing Haggard and Jones but you will find those places few and far between. To say they were disappointed is an understatement. They drove over 1000 miles to visit Nashville and couldn’t hear any Country Music.
