“GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD” – MATTHEW 6″11
Nineteen new graduates from Mercer University flew to Northern Thailand and will teach conversational English there.
One of the most lush and beautiful environs , THAILAND IS ALSO BLESSED WITH LOVELY AND GRACIOUS PEOPLE. Yes for these young Americans, their new home is on the other side of the world and, for the first time, they are far away from family and security. Exotic novelty is now wearing off, and some write to me of loneliness and fear and second thoughts about leaving home. The reality of a brave new venture is seeping in. So it is in life. A new job moves us to another state. A wonderful wedding flings us into adulthood, and we realize: We cannot go home again. The retirement we have longed for casts us into uncharted waters, and we fear the future. A friend once told me that when life quits changing and fear is conquered , there is a good chance you are dead. I think she is right. A rich life is always seasoned by the spices of apprehension, anxiety, and adjustment. Such painful emotions sing a rich duet with peace, security, and intimacy. Life is filled with paradox, and we must learn to dance amid the dissonance.
Father, give me the courage to whether those times of apprehension with confidence, Amen
