BILL BRAGG [Voice of BIG TEX 2002 -2012/KPCN-730 DJ] (Dallas-Richardson, TX) Subject: KPCN (730) Reunion. Hi Jim: There was even a circle of “coat hanger wire” with a flashlight bulb attached hanging in Bathroom! Since the Transmitter and Towers were on site; the “RF” from the antenna caused the flashlight bulb to glow; and that was one less thing to worry about while you were away from the Studio! I only got in trouble once; when I left the Front Gate open after arriving at the last minute! Bo Powell (our beloved Program Director) suffered from stomach problems and had to drink Goats Milk! And when I left the gate open; all the goats got loose! BTW, did you know that Bo Powell was an accomplished Artist and painted some of the Murals around Dallas/Ft. Worth? Keep up the good work; You’re a “National Treasure”! Bill Bragg (www.billbragg.com) 47 years in Radio & TV Broadcasting – The Voice of BIG TEX 2002 -2012 The State Fair of Texas=

MIKE SHANNON [KMNY-1360 DJ The Wi Fi Club – Navteq traffic WBAP-820/WFAA TV] (Dallas-Mesquite, TX)Another note of thanks to Jim Rose’s column for the news tip. Another casualty of KBOX-Dallas in the past few days. John Bass, perhaps more noted for his many contributions to East Texas radio and TV, died July 16 at age 77. John’s another worthwhile candidate for future HOF induction, and I know you all have nominated him more than once. R.I.P. TRIVIA ANSWER: On July 30, 1964 WNEW-1130 in New York City – a top-rated adult music station, bans all comedy records that ridicule the United States Government, its processes, institutions, officials, lawmakers and political candidates.

DAN MCCURDY (aka: Charlie Brown, KLIF; Dan Patrick, KBOX; WMEX, Boston, MA; Texas Radio Hall of Fame inductee, 2004) (Sherman, TX) Larry Scott’s appearance on 1480 was after I left. I was not on the KBOX staff when the format change occurred. Consequently, my guess is that Larry joined the KBOX staff in 1967 rather than the JRRR published year of 1966. No big deal…just wanted to straighten out the dates. :::sigh::: Sometimes we cling to so little, eh, pal? My best, Jim… Dan McCurdy Sherman, TX
