BEN HAROLD [KXOL-1360, KENR-1170] (Knoxville, TN) Hi Jim, last year, at this time, I was well on my way to the big studio in the sky. From mid-October to January 11th, as most of you know, I was hospitalized. Following surgery for stage 4 colon cancer on 3/30/15, an additional 6 weeks of more chemo, my last scan (a month ago) showed I am cancer-free, which is, indeed, a miracle. I want to thank those for keeping me in your prayers. This holiday season, I want readers to know that YOU ALL are in MY prayers. Too many of us “old-timers” are no longer around to recall the “good old days” of radio. I’m thankful that Jim Rose is still here, keeping us in touch. Happy Thanksgiving to all of my radio friends. Ben Harold

The Music City Ghost [File #89] 2015: You don’t know how many times I have spoken to people that have just recently moved to Nashville that tell me they came here from Ohio or California, or where ever to begin a brand new start. Nine times out of ten within 1 year their brand new start has turned into the same nightmare they left to come here. In almost every case the problems you are running away from are carried within your being because you were the one who created the problem to begin with. If you are a person who loves spreading gossip for example, it doesn’t matter where you live, you will continue to spread rumors. I have actually talked to some folks that have moved 5 or 6 times to various states and each time the reason was to begin a brand new start. Here is another example of what I am talking about. If you are a girl who watched your mother constantly nag you Dad and you tell yourself over and over again when I grow up and get married I will never nag my husband then just remember that learned behaviour from your childhood is still within you and subject to a flare up any moment. Running away from problems in your state will not be fixed by moving. The way to fix problems is to confront the situation and fix it once and for all. Running away from anything will never fix the problem but only move it to a different location

A story is told about a man who preached an impressive sermon, seeking to be the pastor of a new church. Everybody loved it and voted for him to become their new pastor. They were a bit surprised, however, when he preached the same sermon his first Sunday there—and even more surprised when he preached it again the next week. After he preached the same sermon the third week in a row, the leaders met with him to find out what was going on. The pastor assured them, “I know what I’m doing. When you start living out this sermon, I’ll go on to my next one.”
Jesus’ sermons had a notably recurring theme. Not surprisingly, the King of kings wanted to be sure that the people understood what was required of them to be part of His kingdom. He came to announce a whole new world order that was totally out of step with life as it was usually lived. Themes such as forgiveness, servanthood, and unconditional mercy and grace were repeatedly on His lips.
Two thousand years later we find ourselves in need of the same message. As soon as we start repenting and living under the authority, reign, and rule of Jesus our King, we will experience benefit to our lives, glory to His name, and blessing to others.
The Bible gives us all we need
To live our lives for God each day,
But it won’t help if we don’t read
And practice what its pages say.
A sermon isn’t complete until it’s put into practice.
“When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he left Judea and returned to Galilee. He went first to Nazareth, then left there and moved to Capernaum, beside the Sea of Galilee, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. This fulfilled what God said through the prophet Isaiah: “In the land of Zebulun and of Naphtali, beside the sea, beyond the Jordan River, in Galilee where so many Gentiles live, the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined.” From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near. ””
Matthew 4:12-17 NLT
