Joey Feek needs your prayers, and her husband Rory is asking for you to bow your heads and close your eyes this Thursday, November 5th at 8pm CST to either bring a miracle, peace, strength or all three. For better or worse.
I said those words to her at the alter on June 15, 2002. But today and each day since our wedding day has been my opportunity to show her that I mean those words. And I do mean them. In most emails, comments and conversations, everyone asks the same question to us… “what can we do to help?”
They sincerely want to do something. Anything.
There is something you can do…You can pray. You can pray my wife’s prayer with us. Joey’s sisters and her best-friend Julie have chosen a special time for people to say a prayer with us for Joey… Will you too join in?
Thursday evening, November 5th at 8 pm CST. (4am Friday Morning South African Time)
You can call it a prayer vigil, or a moment of silence, or what it actually is… a husband asking for help for the woman he loves. But please, one thing I ask… don’t just pray that Joey is healed. Yes, pray for a miracle. But also pray for peace in her heart, and ours, if God chooses not to let this cup pass from her sweet lips.
His will, not ours.

The Music City Ghost [File #77] 2015: You might ask yourself, “What does golf have to do with Country Music?” A few years ago my friend who is a song writer decided to create a song for a very popular female Country Music singer at the time. She had several top 10 records in a row and my friend wrote a song especially for her. It was in her key, her favorite tempo, and talked about the kind of things she sang in her songs. Once the demo was played for her producer, which was also her husband, it was immediately announced that the song would be included on her new record to be recorded in 2 weeks. In the meantime the publishing company that my friend wrote for held a celebrity golf tournament. As luck would have it my friend ended up in the same foursome as the producer. Everything was going fine until the 18th hole and it was time to add up the scores. My song writing friend beat the pants off Mr. Producer. He stormed off the golf course and you guessed it……My friends song never got recorded and put on the album. Can you imagine being on a golf course and having to deliberately hit your golf ball into the water or into the woods so you would lose the game?

God answers prayer in a manner directly related to our level of faith. ‘According to your faith be it unto you’ (Matthew 9:29). Yet sometimes in spite of our doubts and human reasoning, He comes through for us anyway. The believers praying for Peter’s release from prison were amazed when he suddenly appeared on their doorstep (Acts 12). When Jesus returned to His home town and began to teach in the local synagogue, the people were amazed by His wisdom. Because He lacked formal education and credentials they wrote Him off as ‘just a carpenter’ (Mark 6:3). And the result? ‘Because of their unbelief, He couldn’t do any miracles among them except to place His hands on a few sick people and heal them.’ Question: How often does your unbelief tie God’s hands? The truth is: a) sometimes our faith is so weak that we don’t expect Him to answer at all; b) we fail to pray with confidence; c) we don’t prepare ourselves for what He wants to do for us. You can’t ask God for forgiveness, then continue to live under condemnation over sins He has put under the blood. Or pray about your financial situation, then worry yourself sick about how He’s going to meet your needs. You can choose to live by your feelings, or in a way that reflects total trust in God. The Bible says, ‘Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He…is a rewarder’ (Hebrews 11:6). So you must exercise faith.
