SUPERGIRL is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Golden Globe Award winner Calista Flockhart), who just hired the Daily Planet’s former photographer, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime. Greg Berlanti (“The Flash,” “Arrow”), Ali Adler, Sarah Schecter and Andrew Kreisberg are executive producers for Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The pilot was directed by Glen Winter (“Arrow”)

Some Comments on Color Changes, what do you think are they right or wrong?
I’m never gonna watch this but you know, this is the annoying thing that I’ve noticed in a lot of movies and/or TV shows based on comics nowadays. Why do they always have to change the race of one character? Seriously, when the heck was Jimmy Olsen ever a buff, bald, black dude? Another prevalent trope is that the black dude is always put in the position of power, which I find okay at first, but now, that cr*p is just annoying.
I just think it’s stupid to change a character’s race for the sake of “balance”. We all know who Jimmy Olsen is. An awkwardly shy red head who takes pictures for the Daily Planet. He’s pretty much the Peter Parker of DC minus the Superhero alter-ego. There was never a good reason to change his race. He’s still the same red head in New 52. If they were trying to appeal to the black demographic, then I’m sure as hell that the black people who are fans of Superman would not like what these guys did to Jimmy Olsen.
Marvel is movng into the right direction: actors, story, drama, fun, action, cgi, marketing: peak performance And DC?? Drifting here & there, not able to build a consistent universe (as Marvel has been doing successfully for the past 5-10 years). So now, DC got stuck somewhere between Ally McBeal, Sex and the City & the Devil Wears Prada This isn’t even funny any more, it’s just plain horrible, stupid & embarrassing
It’s not racism, it’s nerd-raging. We don’t hate black people. we only hate the fact that they replaced little ginger Jimmy Olsen by some buffed black bald dude. We would have raged the same way if any other leading or supporting black characters were replaced by some white dudes.
It seems like they are constantly changing skin colour for a lot of comic book characters. Which is ok (I’m no racist), but I can only imagine that by year 2040 superman will be asian and batman indian.
They should make a black supergirl, but instead of flying, she nae nae’s everywhere protecting thugs and drug lords from the police.
Is this a movie or a TV series, I am confused
