WORK PLACE VIOLENCE OR ANARCHIST? Not too long before the emergence of today’s defiant Talk radio shows plus the rise of around the clock news media, agitants incite violence against reporters. Remember back in the 1980s when extremists gun-down Denver, CO Talk radio host Alan Berg? Recently, Minnesota Public Radio host Mary Lucia has to take a leave of absence because of a chronic stalker. In times like these, talk hosts and reporters must adopt high security measures to protect themselves wherever they go.

SHOCK JOCK MARCONI ENLIVENS WINDY CITY WKQX FM’s new Program Director Troy Hanson makes a few changes. Former WKQX FM morning show co-host from its days as Q101 until it ends in July 2011, Brian Sherman, returns to WKQX FM in September 2015 as weekend host. WKQX FM, now 101WKQX, adds controversial shock jock Marconi from the Pacific Northwest as its new 7:00pm-Midnight evening host in September 2015. The real Marconi, Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937), is one of the Italian inventors of radio.

FORMER HOUSTON, TX TV ANCHOR CALLS IT QUITS Former KTRK-13 ABC CH 13 Houston, TX consumer investigator Jim Bergamo moves to Austin, TX on KEYE TV CH 42, KXAN TV CH 36 and finally KVUE TV ABC CH 24 as co-anchor of the 5 pm news with Quita Culpepper and he is KVUE TV’s medical reporter. JACK PARNELL [former Program Director WHBQ-560] (Memphis, TN) I can imagine you were proud to be associated with them…had a right to be. I visited WFIL in the mid 60s, they offered me a job too, but I never told Jay. Their studios were like a space ship…even a control to “practice” in at anytime someone else wasn’t using it. If you had ideas there was plenty of ways to go in and “woodshed” them. However, WHBQ was the epitome of great people. Management, office people (even the sales department), production (people from everywhere were coming in and using our production department), and especially the on-air people…there were no egos, everybody had the utmost respect for each other, helped each other, and loved the place. Wink and I still talk a lot about what a fun place it was…about how we didn’t just play records and commercials…we DID SHOWS! JP

JAY WALKER [CBS Radio Dallas/KJKK FM/Infinity KTSA-550/KTFM FM/Jay Walker Prod] (Dallas-McKinney, TX) Subject: KUHF nonsense. Jim I just had to respond to the asinine short sighted comment that Lisa Shumate, KUHF FM GM made regarding the transition of the Classical format to HD-2 and streaming which is so wrong on so many points. In reply I’d say I’m sure both of the HD receiver owners in the Houston area will appreciate the switch to HD-2, and of course everyone knows classical music always sounds best in low bit rate “watery” mp3 sound. Very snarky I know, but in all seriousness, Houston public radio listeners will NEVER have another once this station is sold because to paraphrase Will Rogers “They don’t make that anymore”. Once again proof too many “new” media types believe their own press releases regarding the “growing popularity, superior broadcast quality and greater efficiency of digital broadcasting”. Best to you and Suzie!!! Jay Walker

ED MILLER [Former KPCN, KFJZ, KXOL, KIXL, KAFM, KTXO, KAMC, KTLK, Texas State Network, etc] (Austin, TX) Jim, Sorry KBAT gave Rick Marcellan the gold mine and you the shaft, but I’m sure glad he was at ‘JZ. He was the best GM I ever had. Hired me because I had a reputation as an iconoclastic troublemaker in the news biz at the time, and said he wanted me to “shake the dust off the bushes.” This was back in the days when you could still do talk and get big numbers in the Book, even in a backwards burgh like FW, without having to have the now seemingly mandatory neo-Nazi orientation.

The behavior has remained. Actually I like it. All is quiet and I usually spend the time reading. Meanwhile, you know Chuck (Dunaway) is up, too. Bill

TRIVIA ANSWER: Radio legend Don Cannon does Philadelphia, PA morning radio since 1969 on Top 40 WIBG, WIP, WFIL, WIFI and WSNI. Scotty McCreery Talks New Music with Charlie Chase

It is the first single from the Platinum-selling artist’s upcoming new album due out in early 2016. The up-tempo tune was written by Sean McConnell and Jason Saenz and produced by Frank Rogers.

MCG: Singing For A Meal? Nashville Wants Its Share!

030 MCG Buskers Will Be BustedIs Nashville After Selling Artists Licenses To Make More Bucks

Wino’s Wont Need Licences To Beg For Money But Nashville’s Finest Street musician Will Need To

The Music City Ghost [File #30] 2015: I just heard on the news they are going to try to stop pan handling and street musicians from asking for money in downtown Nashville.  One area is so bad they have now posted a police presence from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM to try and control the amount of people on the streets looking for a handout.  The commentator said they are getting more and more aggressive  with their approach to people walking downtown as less and less people tend to carry around cash.  In the distance of 2 blocks it is nothing on the weekends to see 25 or more musicians performing on the sidewalk or alley ways, hoping the folks walking by them will toss some money into their guitar case or tip jar.  If this all comes to be the future of the downtown lower Broadway district it is going to change the entire complexion of Nashville.  The Honky-Tonk District that tourists from all over the world flock to annually will no longer witness some very talented musicians performing on the streets trying to earn a living.  I don’t see how a struggling musician singing his heart out for those that wish to listen can be compared to a Wino begging for change so he can buy another bottle of wine but once again this new legislature is not my doing.  Can it be that the street musician in the very near future will have to purchase a vendors license?  You can sell hot dogs or other desired items to the pedestrians on the sidewalks and it is all legal as long as you display your vendors license.  I suppose it is possible you will soon see a copy of the street musician’s vendors license hanging off the neck of his guitar.

THANK YOU, JESUS for the earthly  angels that minister to me every day.  Thank You for family and friends who share my joys and sorrows and uphold me in prayer.  Thank you for all who give assistance unasked…the man who spent over an hour locating a tire for my grandson’s car…a woman in the fast food line who glimpsed my tears and whispered, “I’ll pray for you”…the motel maid who provided a special breakfast for a sleep-late child. Open my eyes to see the pain and needs of those I meet each day, Lord.  Open my heart and hands to be willing and ready to offer a kind word, practical  help, or prayers.  – Penney Schwab

Rhon’s Early Morning Inspiration For Sunday

RhonsInspirationDaily2014Rhonnie Scheuerman’s Early Morning Inspiration For All In Need Of Some

Jesus Today

You are a delight to Me! I know you find it difficult to receive this blessing. It is based on the unconditional Love I have for all of My followers. I love you more than you can begin to imagine, so just relax in the Light of My Presence-and take time to soak in this luminous Love. Relax with Me and listen while I rejoice over you with singing.

Living in a fallen world is a constant challenge. There is brokenness all around you, as well as within you. Each moment, you can choose to focus on what is wrong or to seek My Face and enjoy My approval. Even in the midst of important activities, you can breathe this short prayer: I seek You, Jesus.

Remember that My delight in you is based on My finished work on the cross. So don’t fall into the trap of trying to earn My Love. Instead, live as the one you truly are-My beloved-and let your gratitude keep you close to Me, eager to follow wherever I lead. I delight in you!

The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. -Zephaniah 3:17

When You said, Seek My face, my heart said to You, Your face, Lord, I will seek. -Psalm 27:8 nkjv

The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you; the Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually). -Numbers 6:25-26 amp

Rhon’s Early Morning Inspiration For Saturday

RhonsInspirationDaily2014Rhonnie Scheuerman’s Early Morning Inspiration For All Who May Be In Need Of Some

Do not merely listen to the word, and to deceive yourselves.   Do what  it says.  Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in the mirror and after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like

      – JAMES 1:22-24-

   Article by Marci Alborghetti

A cute joke gave me a much-needed reminder that expressing Christianity  involves a lot more than opening my mouth.  A preacher is  new in town and looking for the post office.  He walks around, searching, and sees a small boy.  He asks the child for directions to the post office, and the child gives them.  The preacher seeing an opportunity for a little free advertising, thanks him and say, “If you come to my church on Sunday and bring your family, I’ll tell you how to get to heaven.”  “Mister,” the boy replies, you don’t even know how to get to the post office.  How’re you going to show us the way to heaven?”

We imagine, with a little undeniable satisfaction. the preacher getting his comeuppance.   Yet after the chuckles fade, we can see something in here for more than just preachers and clerics.  It’s an echo of Jesus words to all of us when He tells His disciples to remove the planks from their own eyes before they try to remove the sliver from their neighbor’s eye.  I like to think I know the way to God.  But some days I can barely manage to be loving to my husband, tolerant of my noisy neighbors or patient with the problems of my friends.

Finding the way to heaven, I am reminded by this anecdote,  it’s not a matter of talking about it with arrogant certainty.  It  is a matter of searching  quietly, acting humbly and serving gracefully.  Most  of all, it is a matter of accepting my own flaws before I go searching for the limitations of others.

Father , teach me the right path to You, and then let me show others in how I live my life.——MARCI

TOM ELLIS [Veteran WABC TV NYC, WBZ TV Boston, MA & KONO-860/KONO TV news anchor] (Boston-Cape Cod-East Sandwich, MA) Hi, Jim and Suzie, Well familiar with the Big D Jamboree. That was big while I was at Arlington State College. Saw Tennessee Ernie Ford there when his “Mule Train” was #1. He used a commode seat to slam together to make the sound of a bull whip snapping at the mules. He made a big deal outta that commode seat, and everybody got a kick outta they whole thing. Times were simpler in those days. That area of Dallas was mostly warehouses and industrial buildings, and was not very much developed when I knew it then. Yeah, you betcha, radio was big when you started out. Anybody with a voice on the radio was a big star in the minds of many. That’s what attracted us as kids to wanna be a radio star. Then came TV…and that caught my immediate attention, and luckily I got my first TV job on what then was WBAP-TV in Ft. Worth in 1951 when I was just 18. I’ve been mighty lucky. Tom

During spring & summer of 1980, under GM Rick Marcellan, we ruled the FW airwaves on the Big 12-70. I’m right on that date. Trust me. It was the last gig in my 20 year radio career, which I remember fondly and still somewhat miss but am now glad finally came to an end. Best regards, ~E
