Johannesburg – Monique de Souza, 28, whose fiancé was stabbed to death in an attack on their smallholding in Bela-Bela on Tuesday, has told how she fought off the black attackers and wrestled with one of them when he tried to rape her. Netwerk24‘s Marietie Louw-Carstens and George Germishuys spoke to her at St Vincent Hospital in Bela-Bela, where she is recovering from the attack. She broke fingers as she fought back.

4 Year Old Daughter asked Blacks not to hurt her Father

At one point, Van Deventer’s 4-year-old daughter from a previous relationship came into the room and asked the men not to hurt her father. They told her to shut up and go to sleep.

One of the men ordered De Souza to take off her dress and underwear. She said she prayed for the strength of 200 men as she lay on the bed. She then took a knife which she kept by the bed and attacked the man as he loosened his belt.

In the struggle they fell over Van Deventer as he lay bleeding on the floor. De Souza eventually managed to stab the man, and the attackers then fled. Van Deventer said he was thirsty so she ran to get water for him, and comforted their 4-month-old baby, who was crying in the room.

“Promise me you’ll look after our children,” Van Deventer said before dying.

De Souza lost her husband four years ago when he died of a heart attack.Limpopo police said the same team of detectives who investigated the murder of retired doctor Louis-John Botha are hunting for suspects. One man has been taken in for questioning.

STEVE EBERHART [Eberhart Broadcasting-KVIL FM] (Dallas, TX) Subject: Jack Woods Has Died. Jack Woods, legendary Top 40 radio morning talent and one-half of the famed “Charlie & Harrigan” duo, has died. Originally in afternoon drive at KLIF Dallas, in 1962, he was tapped to replace Tom Murphy of the “Murphy & Harrigan” show in mornings at KLIF. It was there the show was renamed “Charlie & Harrigan” and the legend began with partner Ron Chapman. Later Jack teamed with Paul Menard at KCBQ in San Diego and returned twice to KLIF, once in the mid 60’s and again in the mid 70’s, but the longest run of “C&H” was in San Diego radio. Woods and Menard were recently inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame and had also been inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame. Woods was 80. (confirmed to me in a phone conversation with his son Bo Woods)

The first licensee with call-sign WSB is American steel cargo ship S.S. Francis H. Leggett but it capsizes and sinks during a storm. On December 18, 1919 WSB goes to the ship Firewood but ironically it burns off the coast of Peru. Joanne Cash Continues the Cash Family Legacy

Releases A Star-Studded Duets Album

Gospel music legend Joanne Cash, sister of country music icon Johnny Cash, will release her latest album, Breaking Down the Barriers, on April 1st. The star-studded duets album from Nashville-based indie label Proverbial Excellence will be available in stores and at all digital retailers including iTunes and Amazon, distributed by Elevate Entertainment and Syntax Distribution.

Joanne Cash Continues the Cash Family Legacy

Joanne Continues the Cash Family Legacy

On Breaking Down the Barriers, Joanne teamed up with many of her famous friends for a collection of 14 duets that are firmly planted in Gospel. Fans of the Cash family will be thrilled to find duet’s with Rosanne Cash and Tommy Cash, in addition to contributions from iconic country artists Larry Gatlin, T. Graham Brown, The Fox Brothers, Razzy Bailey, George Hamilton IV and Riders in the Sky’s Ranger Doug and Christian rockers Kevin Max (dcTalk, Audio Adrenaline), Dan Haseltine (Jars of Clay), Rick Florian (Whiteheart) and John Schlitt (Petra).

Country music fans will take particular interest in two tracks on the new album, due to their historical significance. The lyrics for the Tommy Cash duet, “My Lord Has Gone,” were written by Joanne and Tommy’s brother Johnny Cash, who passed away before he had the chance to record it. On the song “On The Rock Where Moses Stood,” Joanne duets with legendary country artist George Hamilton IV, in what turned out to be his final recording. Hamilton died unexpectedly in September.

“These sessions, often done in Joanne’s home, pair Joanne with artists from all walks of life and genres,” says producer Chad Randall Crow. “Each of these songs was hand-picked for this inspirational work. Like her brother’s American Recordings sessions, these performances will stand the test of time.”

As the younger sister of Johnny Cash, Joanne Cash has certainly made her way in the music industry. With 30 albums, the 2013 docufilm, Joanne Cash: I Do Believe, her acclaimed autobiography, My Fears Are Gone, and continuous concert appearances, the singer/songwriter is driven by a deeper sense of eternal purpose. Says Joanne, “I’m amazed that at my age I still want to sing, but it’s like therapy for me. Johnny always helped me remember that and he was constantly encouraging. But there was one short phrase from Johnny that’s always stuck with me and it’s one I’ll continue for as long as I’m here, ‘Baby, just keep on singing!’”

Joanna and Johnny Cash

Joanne and Johnny Cash

Joanne grew up in Dyess, Arkansas, where some of her earliest Cash family memories include singing spiritual standards in the cotton fields and laying on the living room floor listening to gospel and country music – scenes that would eventually be played out in the box office smash, I Walk the Line. Joanne found a musical calling in the 1970s while working at House of Cash, Johnny’s famed recording studio, office space and musical museum. She sang at the Grand Ole Opry from 1972-1976 with Jimmy Rodgers Snow’s Grand Ole Gospel Time. During that era, Joanne met her husband Dr. Harry Yates, and the couple soon dedicated themselves to full time music ministry, traveling the country for fifteen years of full time preaching and singing the gospel. When they came off the road in 1990, the couple founded Nashville Cowboy Church, where Joanne continues to sing every Sunday. In addition, Joanne continues to tour worldwide, and hosts a Tuesday night residency at the Wyndham Vacation Resort in Nashville, where she shares a variety of original and gospel/country covers, plus tidbits of the Cash family testimony.

Rhon’s Inspiration Station: People Full Of Joy

RhonsInspirationDaily2014Some Wonderful Men and Women Are Full of Joy

The Daily Guideposts Prayer Companion Book I have listed some of their writings

starWriter : Daniel Schantz: Old is where I live now, Lord.  I am in the September of my years, with more years behind me than ahead of me. And yet,  the perspective is such a relief! Looking back I can see clearly Your footprints in my past.  At the time, my troubles hid Your face from me , but now I can see plainly that You were there all along, weaving even my trials into a rich tapestry  of experience. I wish I could have trusted You more in the past, but I was afraid a lot.  Now that I am closer to the end, I am not so afraid  anymore, Father. My heart is as still as a day in September.

starWriter:  Bill Giovannetti: I approach Your Throne of Grace this day, God not to ask- You know I do plenty of that-but to praise.  I praise You for the shoes on my feet.  I praise You for the pillow beneath my head last night. I praise You for the breath in my lungs, the shirt on my back, and whatever wits remain in my brain. Thank you for the many bounties I’ve taken for granted.  Thank You for those who have been kind to me.  Thank You for those who have taught me, prayed for me, put up with me, hugged me, encouraged me, and yes, corrected me when I’ve strayed.  I even thank You for the hard times, the losses, and the pains.  I don’t understand them, but I’m grateful for Your hand in every dark valley. Thank you for the Bible and Your precious wisdom there.  Thank You for Jesus, the Lamb of God, my Redeemer, and my Friend.  Thank You for that glorious land beyond life’s veil, where I shall one day open my eyes and breathe celestial air, and see my Savior face to face. I’m not asking today, Lord.  I’m praising.  And I’m thanking.  And I’m declaring that You’ve been better to me than I’ve ever deserved.  Amen

starWriter:  Sharon Foster: When I am Disappointed in Myself, or feeling too small or too used up to serve any purpose, Lord help me to see myself as You see me.  You see orphans as queens and abandoned sons as kings.  Help me to see the light that You have placed inside of me, and give me this courage to be all You’ve made me to be!

starWriter: Kin Henry: Dear lord, I have a decision to make and I need YOUR help.  What I choose to do will affect me an others in ways I can imagine and in ways I cannot forsee.  I’m scared, Lord.  Scared of making a choice I’ll regret, of doing the wrong thing.
