Grand Ole Opry House Added to Historic Places

GrandOleOpryFront001Grand Ole Opry House Added to National Register of Historic Places

The Grand Ole Opry House, home of the Opry since the venue opened in 1974, has been added to the National Register of Historic Places, the nation’s official list of cultural resources worthy of preservation. Regarded as the home of country music, the world-famous venue was recognized because of its impact on popular culture and the entertainment industry. It is one of six sites in Tennessee recently added to the list. Dr. Carroll Van West, Director of the Center for Historic Preservation at MTSU and the Tennessee State Historian, prepared the nomination which was supported by the Tennessee State Historical Commission.

The Opry House opened on March 16, 1974 with a standing room only Opry performance attended by President and Mrs. Richard Nixon, among other VIP guests. The Opry’s sixth home, the venue is also the only home built specifically for the Opry and the residence the Opry has called home the longest. The venue has welcomed countless Opry artists, concert performers from virtually every genre of music, U.S. Presidents, foreign dignitaries, award shows, television tapings, and numerous special events and distinguished guests in its 41-year history. It is a reigning Academy of Country Music Venue of the Year.

The distinction for the Opry’s permanent home comes as the Opry itself readies for a nine-month celebration of its 90th Anniversary, set to begin with a kick-off show Tuesday, March 24. Throughout that evening’s performance, the Opry will announce various elements of the celebration, including special shows scheduled through December. The Opry’s 90th Birthday Bash Weekend is scheduled for October 2-3.

Mutilated Body of Retired Doctor Found on Farm

LouisJohnBotha001The Mutilated Body Of A Retired Doctor Found On His Farm In Limpopo

Louis-John Botha, 64, is the second farmer in the Waterberg district of Limpopo to be killed this year.

Susan Kotze, 76, was also murdered on her farm near Lephalale in January.

According to the report, Botha had practised as a doctor in Swartwater for many years. He lived on the farm Gwelo Safaris about 12km from Swartwater. Limpopo police are not sure exactly how Botha was killed. Trackers and the canine unit are searching the area and looking for clues. Botha was alone at the lodge over the weekend while his girlfriend visited friends in Pretoria. She became concerned when she was not able to get hold of him on Sunday and called neighbours, who went to his house and noticed there had been a break-in. Blood was found on the porch and inside the double-storey thatch home. The safe had been opened and items were missing. Police were called and a search was launched. The body was only found on Monday morning, hidden about 200 metres from the house. Botha, who was divorced, leaves behind two daughters and an elderly mother. The family was too shocked to speak on Monday, his son-in-law said.

Meanwhile, national police commissioner Riah Phiyega denies there is an increase in Farm Murders. The police refuse to release official farm murder figures but keep records. AfriForum said there has been a gradual increase in farm attacks and farm murders across South Africa. – NEWS24

It is possible that the prophecy most believe originated from the Boer Prophet, “Siener van Rensburg” about the “Night Of The Long Knives’, is not really related to one night but a period of time? Could it really have meant, “The Era Of The Long Knives” or the “Time Of The Long Knives” As with the farmer above, he too was murdered with a “Long Knives” as have thousands upon thousands of others in South Africa’s since 1994.

A voice of disapproval towards the horrific farm attacks in South Africa over the past few year has recently sparked an unexpected outrage in the United States as more and more people are raising their voices objecting to the apparent Genocide against white people in South Africa. Recently a Country Rock Band out of the Unites States, “Tattoo Billy” wrote a song, “Tercias Veld” about the events of the, “Night Of The Long Knives” and posted it on YouTube. Tattoo Billy have already created quit a following in South Africa after their first CD release titled, “The Children Of Ham” both these video’s are in support of the victims of Farm Murders in South Africa – WHISNews21

Stabilizing Peace

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

On May 3, 1943, air raid sirens sounded over London. People raced toward Bethnal Green Underground station, where more than 500 people had already taken refuge. In the next ten minutes, 1500 more would join them. A woman carrying a baby lost her footing on one of the 19 steps leading down from the street. Like dominoes, people started falling on top of one another. In the end, 173 people died. Bombs didn’t kill them, fear did! Today there’s a stampede of fear around us and, if you’re not careful, you’ll get caught up in it. It’s okay to recognize danger, but God doesn’t want you to be overwhelmed by it. So you need to monitor what you listen to, think and say. The disciples needed a rock to stand on in the coming storm. Jesus had just told them how bad things were going to get in the world and the extent to which they would suffer. He announced He was leaving and told them He would send the Holy Spirit to be with them. John chapter 16 ends with these words: “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”’ No matter what the situation, Jesus is on top of it. No matter what trial you face, Jesus will bring you through it. Though surrounded by fear and the fearful, you will have His peace. And that stabilizing peace will fortify you and cause others to turn to you for answers.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for having victory over the world so that I need not fear what my final destiny will be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
