ALL THE NEWS THAT IS NEWS

MOONVES EYES CBS Leslie Roy Moonves, President and Chief Executive Officer of CBS Corporation, uneasy in the event that majority owner Sumner Redstone dies, a Viacom merger might occur. Sources tell The NYPost that Moonves examines plans to buy out CBS’ chief investor, National Amusements Incorporated. The 65-year-old Moonves believes a Viacom merger leaves him in an inferior position and could shortchange CBS minority shareholders. Moonves talks with Wall Street heavy hitters about such a buyout.

And Dave McConnell says he has absolutely no plans to retire anytime soon.

RIVER CITY RADIO GOES LOCAL Many listeners complain that radio no longer contains local programming. RAMP reports: For the first time in 17 years, St. Louis has a new Top 40 radio station. Emmis launches its new KNOU FM Now96.3 in St. Louis, MO to take on rival iHeartMedia KSLZ FM (Z107.7). SVP/GM John Beck says: Our Classic Hits 96.3 was underperforming. St. Louis radio listeners need a music station that plays all the current hits with fewer commercials and includes local personalities.

JAY WALKER [CBS Radio Dallas/KJKK/FM/Infinity KTSA KTFM/Own Jay Walker Prod] (Dallas/Fort Worth, TX) Jim it is with heavy heart I pass along the news of the death of a true friend and radio production professional. Dan Seibold who worked in Dallas for many years behind the scenes at such production giants as TM Century suffered a fatal heart attack Monday and passed away during surgery. Dan had also mentioned working in San Antonio as well as markets in the Pacific North West. Dan was one of the “good ones” you sometimes luckily run into in this business. A very quiet and soft spoken person, his voice was easily recognized by anyone who knew him in the southwest. While being one of the top producers in Dallas he was never “hard to handle” and was a friend always ready to share his vast production knowledge or one of his latest “gadgets” ranging from production gear and software, computing, or short wave receiver. Dan was employed by CBS in Dallas and had been with the company for years first as production manager of “107.5 The Oasis” to finally creative services manager for the CBS Dallas cluster. Dan is survived by his beloved wife of many years Denise who he always called the love of his life…Rest in peace my friend.

JOANIE GREEN-GALLO [Longtime Houston, TX DJ/traffic reporter] (Tulsa, OK) Jim, Oh! My Word! How wonderful! Thank you so much! I shall email him tonight ~ please let him know I will email him and to be sure to check his junk email in case mine goes there instead of into his email inbox. Things are rather iffy at the moment…rehearsals for Gridiron were cancelled due to the weather…ours is rather tough tonight and we’re bracing for some snow. We had some strong winds and rain earlier…just hovering over the freeze mark, so it didn’t ice over, but that could change tonight. I’m planning on going into work tomorrow unless the weather is so bad, I can’t. I got a few essentials at the store today and came home to hunker down in case we get the worst…and the really funny thing is that we’re told we could be close to 70 by the weekend! Well, I have a few things to do and then I’m going to email Ira. Take care, stay warm, and we’ll talk with you later…thanks again for passing Ira’s email addy on to me. Joanie

Rhon’s Early Morning Inspiration For Monday

RhonsInspirationDaily2014MaritzOriginalLetters2013mondayRhonnie Scheuerman’s Early Morning Inspiration For All Who May Be In Need Of Some

Developing a Vibrant Faith

Acts 9:1-16

The apostle Paul had a strong commitment to know and serve Jesus Christ. His passion and love for the Lord was obvious—Jesus was always central in his thinking, whether he was working as a tent maker, preaching to the crowd, or even sitting in chains at prison. What fueled his love for the Lord?

Paul’s conversion experience on the Damascus Road was a motivating force in his life. Grateful for the gift of grace he had received at salvation, the apostle told many people about his encounter with the resurrected Christ and its impact on him. We, too, have a story to tell of God’s mercy in saving us and of the new life we have in Him.

Paul’s zeal also came from his firm conviction that the gospel message was true and available to everyone (John 3:16). On the cross, Jesus took all our sins—past, present, and future—upon Himself (1 Pet. 2:24). He suffered our punishment so that we might receive forgiveness and be brought into a right relationship with God. Through faith in Christ, we’ve been born again, and the indwelling Holy Spirit helps us every day (John 14:26). The more we understand what Jesus has accomplished on our behalf, the greater will be our passion to share the gospel.

Developing a vibrant faith requires time and energy plus a commitment to obey God. Regularly studying the Bible will strengthen your beliefs and give you courage to speak. Caring about the spiritual welfare of others will move you into action. Do you have a passion to serve Jesus wherever .
