UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – Jan. 16, 2015 – NBC has signed a development deal with Dolly Parton, one of the most honored female country musicians of all time and an American icon. “I am so excited to be involved with my friend Bob Greenblatt, who produced the Broadway version of ‘9 to 5: The Musical’ with me, and my longtime friend and former agent Sam Haskell. We want to create projects for NBC that are both fun and inspirational with a family audience in mind,” said Dolly Parton.
In conjunction with production partner Sam Haskell of Magnolia Hill Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television, NBC will develop a slate of two-hour TV movies based on the songs, stories, and inspiring life of Dolly Parton. This extraordinarily prolific country music artist and movie star will produce these projects that are meant to appeal to an inclusive family audience.
“I don’t know anyone in the world who doesn’t love Dolly Parton, and the idea of developing television movies inspired by her incredible life and the stories she has sung about for decades is exciting to all of us at NBC,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment.” I hope we will create some uplifting movies that the entire family can enjoy together, a genre of programming that still seems largely untapped on television.”
Added Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment: “We all feel so lucky to be in business with Dolly. We’re so excited about working with her to infuse these movies with her incredible work ethic and that genuine hopefulness and positive outlook that has been her trademark for years. And you can bet there will be a lot of her music in them too.”
Over the past 40 years, Parton has 41 albums that have reached the top 10 in the country charts – the most for any artist – as well as 25 albums have either been certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum. In addition, 110 singles have reached the country charts. She has won 10 Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Assn. Awards and 7 Academy of Country Music Awards. In fact, Parton has been nominated for 46 Grammys as both she and Beyonce are the most Grammy-nominated women of all time.
She was twice nominated for an Oscar for her original songs “9 to 5” and “Travelin’ Thru,” for the film “Transamerica.” As an actress, Parton was nominated for three Golden Globes (two for “9 to 5,” one for “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”) and won two People’s Choice Awards.

I empower you-infusing inner strength into you so that you are ready for anything and equal to anything. It’s essential to remember that this inner strength comes through Me, through your connection with Me. It comes to you as you need it-as you take trusting steps of dependence, moving forward with your eyes on Me. This promise is a powerful antidote to fear-especially your fear of being overwhelmed by circumstances you see looming ahead. They may look daunting, but in Me you are indeed ready for anything and equal to anything.
Of course, you’re not currently ready for every imaginable situation. I carefully control what happens in your life. I am constantly protecting you from both known and unknown dangers. And I provide strength, just when you need it, for everything I allow to touch your life. Many of the future things you anxiously anticipate will not actually reach you. My promise is for things you face in the present, and it is sufficient. So when you are feeling the strain of an uphill journey, tell yourself the truth: I have strength for all things through Christ who empowers me!
“I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency]. -Philippians 4:13 amp”
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. -John 15:4 nkjv
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. -Psalm 28:7
We here at WHISNews21 are big Scotty McCreery fans so when something happens to him we feel it too. We send our thoughts and prayers to Scotty as it is no secret that Scotty and his Grandfather were always very close.
“I am sad to share my Granddad, Bill McCreery, passed away unexpectedly last Sunday. He had celebrated his 86th birthday just two days earlier. My Granddad was a hard worker who spent 20 years in the US Air Force Strategic Air Command and 10 more years working for the US Civil Service at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine. He lived life to the fullest, was good-natured and had a hearty laugh. He was totally devoted to my Grandmother Paquita for 57 years. Together, they raised three children and were inspirations for their six grandchildren. He was one amazing guy who drove a black mustang convertible and could still dive off his diving board in his backyard pool. As his only grandson, it will be an honor to carry on the family name. Thank you Granddad for everything, but especially the lessons on love and respect, the golf and diving lessons AND that McCreery deep voice.” Scotty
We sincerely believe that he will cherish every single moment he spent with his Grandfather during his lifetime, and that from this moment on, even though his Grandfather may have passed away, he will live forever in Scotty’s heart.
