DAVE MICHAELS [WSAI-1360/KONO-860/KBUC FM] (Dayton-Huber Heights, OH) Subject: Tomatoes & Radio. Summer vacation 1959 I would wait until Mr. Wesoloski went to work. I climbed over the brick wall behind his garage & into his garden. I took out my trusty Barlow knife and while holding one of his beautiful Home Grown tomatoes – I would cut slices & eat them. There are no better tasting tomatoes than FREE tomatoes. I did this many times over my summer vacation. Life was good. Under the covers at night in bed I listened to radio ( WBAP – WBZ – WLS ) with my flashlight. Someday – I too was going to be on the radio. Dave Michaels KQRO KBUC KONO

To clarify and put those rumors to bed, I wanted to just come out and explain what is going on. Two weeks ago, I was diagnosed with lung cancer. At that time, I was in shock and scared as I didn’t know what that really meant. After testing, the doctors have asked me to take the next 4 months off from touring and to focus on chemotherapy and radiation treatments to shrink the cancer cells. I will keep you all updated on the progress. I am forever grateful for the love, support, and prayers during this time.”

JAY WALKER (DFW-Chambersville, TX) Hi Jim! I know Len’s son Chuck quite well. I spent a number of hours helping him rebuild the place. I was chief at KRLD-FM and was able to donate a PR&E BMXIII-22 console to the station, an STL, and I did his audio processing as well. He’s the loudest cleanest 250 watt AM you’ll hear around these parts. In addition to having been talent in radio I was chief at KRLD-FM/KYNG/KJKK for 20+ years until stage 4 lymphoma took me out of the game. As I say “I’ve retired to leave the race to younger faster rats” HAHA… Again thank you for the weekly “snapshot” of the industry, your work is appreciated as well as enjoyed… 73 Jay

MIKE MARSHALL [WFAA 570/820-KPRC-950-KQUE FM] (Houston, TX) There was an ad in the Morning News for the station (WFAA 820/570) showing pictures of the air staff…except me and Rex who worked all night. I guess nights didn’t count as real radio. I remember a meeting in Charlie’s office where he said “If you guys were any good, you should be getting offers.” A week later I got a call from Buddy Holiday at KPRC. Ironically I came to KPRC to do 4-7 afternoons. I was so happy to get off nights after five years but within months they hired a new 4-7 guy from Fort Worth and bumped me back to 7-midnight. TRIVIA ANSWER: In 1967, at Alabama’s Tuskegee Institute, six students decide to merge two local bands, The Mystics and The Jays. Observers confess that one of the group members tosses a dictionary into the air. When it unfolds, he points to a word on the page and that word is Commodores.

JAY WALKER (DFW-Chambersville, TX) Jim all I can say is dogs are good judges of character so that would explain why the doggies reciprocate feelings of affection towards you They “know” what’s in your head and heart… :-)

STANLEY COREN (January 1, 1942 – p) The greatest fear dogs know is the fear that you will not come back when you go out the door without them.

Garth Brooks ‘Man Against Machine’ Album Cover

GarthBrooksManAgainstMachine01Garth Brooks Releases ‘Man Against Machine’ Album Cover

Yesterday, Garth Brooks revealed the new album cover for his country music comeback. Man Against Machine will have the lead single “People Loving People” on it. I must say, it’s a bit Chris Gaines-ish in appearance. It certainly doesn’t look like the fun-loving Garth that’s been all over the Las Vegas scene and recent tour stops.

ManAgainstMachineGarthBrooksMusic has always been a reflection of where mankind is at the time. For 14 years, I have watched heart and soul, dreams and individualism, fighting for their very existence in a world of increasing technology. This album is a reminder to all those who dream, work, and fight for what they believe; do not give up your vision,” said Garth Brooks.

Fans can pre-order the album at and In addition to the album, fans can order an additional mega bundle including all eight iconic studio albums digitally updated, the new double live 25th Anniversary Edition featuring 30 songs along with 30 videos, an instant download of the new single, “People Loving People” and the bonus track, “Send ‘Em On Down The Road.”

What do you think of the album cover?

Anaconda Gets Awesome Bluegrass Remake – WET TV

PostmodernJukeboxAnaconda01Nicki Minaj’s ‘Anaconda’ Gets Awesome Vintage Bluegrass Remake – WET TV

Looking for a good way to get your hip-hop loving friends to that hoedown? Try this amazing bluegrass remix of Nicki Minaj‘s latest hit, ‘Anaconda.’ In their latest installment of genre-bending remixes, the popular YouTube channel Postmodern Jukebox drops a vintage bluegrass hoedown version of Minaj’s popular song, complete with a banjo, upright bass and overalls instead of booty shorts. “Well, a bunch of you requested this one, and after hearing Nicki Minaj’s ‘Anaconda,’ we just knew that we had to cover it,” says founder Scott Bradlee. “Watch Robyn Adele Anderson and guest banjoist Matt Bruer change the meaning of this song by rendering it as a bluegrass ditty.” And change it they did. The song is just as fun as Minaj’s version, which heavily samples the infamous ‘Baby Got Back’ by Sir Mix-a-Lot, but with a country flair that fans are sure to love. Anderson impressively matches Minaj’s quick-as-lightning vocal delivery, but with lyrics that have been changed to praise the merits of the banjo more than the butt. Postmodern Jukebox has shot to YouTube fame for taking popular songs and turning them on their head with old-school remixes like Miley Cyrus’s ‘We Can’t Stop’ in vintage doo wop style,  Macklemore’s ‘Thrift Shop’ as a ragtime diddy and Jason Derulo’s ‘Wiggle’ as a Broadway tune — complete with tap dancing instead of twerking! Needless to say, it’s just our kind of remix. Enjoy! – By Carrie Horton TasteOfCountry

Rhon’s Early Morning Inspiration For Monday

RhonsInspirationDaily2014MaritzOriginalLetters2013mondayRhonnie Scheuerman’s Early Morning Inspiration For All Who May Be In Need Of Some

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. This planet you inhabit is in such a big mess that sometimes you feel overwhelmed. Just watching the news on television can make you anxious. World events and economies seem to be spinning out of control more and more. This is why it’s so very important to focus on Me and consider who I am: the Beginning and the End. I-the Creator of this planet-transcend time. I know the end of this world’s story just as well as I know its beginning.

I not only know how everything will turn out, but I am absolutely Sovereign. I am the Almighty; nothing is beyond My control. The more helpless you feel as you face the challenges in your life, the more comforting it is to trust that I am all-powerful. Remember that I am also compassionate. I am the Lord who comforts His people and will have compassion on His afflicted ones. You can transcend your troubles because I am both powerful and compassionate. So you have good reason to rejoice; sometimes you may even burst into song!

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. -Revelation 1:8 nkjv

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. -Psalm 91:1-2 esv

Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, O earth; burst into song, O mountains! For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones. -Isaiah 49:13
