Thought for 12-24-12 Christmas Eve and Prayer Line
Dear Marty. My nose is swollen and I may need an operation. Please put me on the prayer list. God bless you and yours for a very merry Christmas. – Dave Wilburn
Today thoughts are exciting about the Birthday of Babe in the manger. He is the Christ Child.I wish each of you a Merry Christmas. – Marty
Marty, Can you send out a prayer request for my brother Albert Brady? He was life flighted to the Cleveland Clinic last night and things don’t look good. He can use all the prayers we can offer him. He has heart and lung problems and is very, very weak. My heart is so heavy. Thanks, Maggie Smolkovich
HOW WAS MY DAY?: Well, I woke up late, yet I seemed grateful for I was pretty sure I had a dream where I saw the Angel of Death at my bed side. In my dream I thought I saw an Angle sent by God to fight the Death Angle off for me, so I am now very sure that God let me sleep while that battle for my life was going on. Later my car took forever to start and I wondered if God didn’t let my car start, because there was a drunk driver on my route to work, that would have hit me if I were on the road at that time. At lunch they made my sandwich wrong and I had to wait. Later I found out that the person who made my first sandwich today was sick and If I had eaten it would have caught what he had. God must have known I couldn’t afford to miss work. Then on the way home my phone went dead just as I picked up a call…later I found out that someone tried to call me to get me to say something I would have regretted, once again I could only believe God must have saved me from answering that call, knowing it would get me into trouble. When I got home I just wanted to soak my feet in my new foot massager and relax, but it wouldn’t work!!! At that moment I forgot how God had helped me just during this one day alone, and cried out load, “Nothing went right today!” Just as I was going to ask God why this had to happen right now I noticed that the foot massager had a short that would have thrown out all of the power in my home for the night. So once again I realized that God did not want me to be in the dark all night. It then suddenly dawned on me how many times today I complained about things that went wrong today, and here I am, safe and sound, going to bed, on my knees and praying to My God to forgive me for always questioning and doubting him for all that goes wrong, when He is only looking after me and keeping me safe. Please Lord forgive me for always doubting your decisions, for I am a fool to have done so.
We seldom know where or why Spirit leads us.
Thought for the 12-25.12
Today is the greatest Birthday in the World, and I would not want this day to pass without sending each of you my Thought for this Day. The following poem says more than I could ever put into words what this day means to me, to you, and to all of mankind. I wish you again a most blessed Christmas Day.
WHEN HEAVEN TOUCHED EARTH: God’s holy angels visited earth on that first Christmas Day. The brightest star in Heaven glows where first the Christ Child lay. A magical, awesome feeling must have filled the air. There was a hint of something special that touched everywhere. This wondrous day of Christmas when we celebrate our Savior’s birth Is the special day when God allowed Heaven to touch the earth. May we accept the gift of love that this holy day impart And the glorious angels sing in Heaven and in our heart. – Shirley Hile Powell

I received this letter from my friend Dave Barton who has a dear friend who lost a child and his friend wrote the following letter to the families of those who lost their children and loved ones in Newtown, CT. I feel that there is no better Thought for the Day than the following letter from Robb Nelson. It will
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PARENTS OF THE CHILDREN LOST IN NEWTOWN
(From a Dad who lost his 5 1/2 year old)
My heart has been aching for you all this past week and it will always have a place for you. As I watched the rain pour down this morning during the ceremony in remembrance of those that were lost I knew they were tears from Heaven as God was crying for your loss. You are not supposed to bury your child!
This letter is not meant to provide any answers for you because I don’t have them and just so you know neither will anyone else. There are no words that can truly help you in this time. I know it feels like your life has been ripped apart and shattered. You are now a member of a group that I would not ask my worst enemy to join. It is my burning desire and wish that you find comfort in the one thing that I know for sure! You will see your little Angel again in Heaven someday!
It will be 8 years this coming may since we lost our little boy, Hunter, from a massive seizure that took his life and all of the joy that he provided away from us. I have to tell you that when it comes to losing your child ‘Time does not heal that wound’. Some people will tell you that it will get better with time but it doesn’t. I don’t mean to sound harsh but I am not going to lie to you. Although it was almost 8 years ago, not a day goes by where I don’t deeply miss my little boy. There is a massive hole in my heart and soul that will never go away. I hurt for you knowing that Christmas is a few days away and you will have presents under the tree for your child and a stocking with their name on it hanging on the fireplace (we still do). Holidays and Birthdays are the most painful but you must have faith and believe that their spirit will always be with you.
I have heard it said (and agree) that with time you will become ‘comfortably numb’ and you will find a ‘new sense of normalcy’ in your lives. I have also heard people say that they don’t know how a parent loses a child and even goes on, but you must go on, you must cling to your spouse, your family and your true friends. There will be those that ignore you because they don’t know what to say. It really hurt our feelings at first but over time we learned that some people just can’t bring themselves to do it. It almost feels like you have a disease that they are afraid they might catch. To everyone that knows you I implore them to reach out to you and just say ‘I am deeply sorry for your loss’ and I am here for you if you ever need someone to listen. Don’t try to come up with words to console the parents because unless you have lost a child you don’t have any. And frankly I pray that you never do!
I strongly encourage you to talk with someone about your pain. My wife and I went to grief counseling and it was the best thing we could have ever done. We are still married today and we are closer than ever. There will be times when you feel like you just can’t go on, but you have to! You would be dishonoring your child’s memory if you don’t keep living your life and showing your child that you haven’t forgotten them. The days ahead will be extremely hard and even years from now you will feel like it just happened. I know this letter will not provide the solace you so desperately need right now but I want you to know that unfortunately there are a lot of us out there. Please seek out the counseling and support you will need during this time!
These are the words of the Kenny Chesney song, ’Who You’d Be Today’, I know they will hit you as hard as they do me“Sunny days seem to hurt the most, I wear the pain like a heavy coat, I feel you everywhere I go, I see your smile, I see your face, I hear you laughing in the rain, I Still can’t believe you’re gone, It ain’t fair you died too young, Like a story that had just begun, but death tore the pages all away, God knows how I miss you, All the hell that I’ve been through, Just knowing no one could take your place, Sometimes I wonder who you’d be today, Would you see the world? Would you chase your dreams? Settle down with a family? I wonder, what would you name your babies? Some days the sky’s so blue I feel like I can talk to you …. The only thing that gives me hope is I know, I’ll SEE YOU AGAIN SOMEDAY”.
There is no one who deserves a free pass to Heaven more than the innocent souls of children. “Let the little children come to Me; don’t stop them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I assure you: Whoever does not welcome the Kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” (Mark 10:14-15)
May God bless you and provide you some comfort,
Robb Nelson (www.huntersdream.org

HI MARTY, MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR NEW SHOW. WOULD YOU PLEASE PUT PAUL LACROIX MY BROTHER INLAW ON YOUR PRAY LIST AS HE IS IN THE HOSPITAL PRITTY BAD. THANK YOU YOUR PAL – HANK DECATO.
Dear friends, I have called upon you to pray when Tyler and Bryce were in need of our fervent prayers. What answers we did receive for these two boys! Once again I am calling upon you to help with my prayers.
A friend of ours, Vickie Wilson, is in need of our prayers and I am asking you to include her in yours now. She was diagnosed with spots on her lungs and abdomen that have tested positive for cancer. She is mid 50ies. They have an appointment this morning with the Dr. so please pray for wisdom and guidance along with complete healing for our friend.
Also another need relayed to me last night…the birth of a premature baby girl, Mackenzie. She is in Children’s Hospital in OKC. There are lots of health issues with this little 4 pounder. Her intestines developed outside her body, possible hole in her heart and possible Downs Syndrome. Please pray as her surgeries commence that God will send His angels to oversee and orchestrate.
Thank you for caring and for stopping what you are doing at this busy moment and praying for both Vickie and Mackenzie and their families.
Thank you for being there to call on. Love and Happy New Year to all
Good morning Marty, I hope you and your family had a joyous Christmas and all is well in Hendersonville. I am asking for prayers, once again, for my brother-in-law, John Wilson. He had a stroke a couple of months ago, and now his doctors have discovered a malignant tumor in his esophagus. They wanted to remove it yesterday, but were unable, although they were able to take a piece of it to be analyzed. He will be facing chemo and / or radiation treatments, once the biopsy comes back. Please ask our prayer warriors to lift him and my sister Marie up to the Lord at this trying time.
Also, you remember my little dog, Teddy. He had a malignant tumor removed yesterday. He’s the one whose leg popped out of joint a few years back. He’s a sore little boy this morning. The vet is fairly confident she got everything, but, cannot guarantee it will not grow back. He’s 13 now, almost 14, and you know how I love my little boys. Have a good day.. Sandy Wenner

Thoughts and Prayer Line for the great loss to our country. Retired Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf has passed away at the age of 78. We are so indebted to the General for his love for his family and country and the great service he gave to his country. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
MAY THE SOUL OF GEN. SCHWARZKOPF REST IN THE PEACEFUL AND LOVING ARMS OF HIS BLESSED SAVIOR.
Thought for 12-29-12
THE COMFORT OF GOD: As the morning begins, I think of God’s love How I should try to be more like Him above. A chance to help others comes with each new day; Spreading God’s Holy Word, Helping them to pray. The gladness in my heart, the good I can see, Comes from the love of God that dwells within me. Sharing my faith in God, helping lost souls heal, Restores both our hopes…brings the comfort I feel. As the sun slowly sets, thanks to God I send, For the blessings of life, His love without end. – Mary A. Bourdeau

Taylor Swift might have worldwide fame, but at her core, the singer is still a mild-mannered southern gal. Need proof? Well, the National League of Junior Cotillions added the ‘Red’ hitmaker to its list of the Ten Best-Mannered People of 2012.
According to Triblive.com, every year the list honors musicians, entertainers, athletes and other celebrities who set a good example for young people by conducting themselves with the highest sense of decorum. Naturally, Swift’s tendency to be kind to the press and the graceful way in which she carries herself earned her a spot in the top 10.
“She continually carries herself with dignity, and is always gracious to her fans,” national director Elizabeth Anne Winters Russell said.
Even though Swift always seems to have a smile on her face when she’s out and about (except for those times when she’s striking a fierce pose on the red carpets), that doesn’t mean she isn’t frequently under scrutiny from the media. Swift’s latest tell-all album has broken records and sold hundreds of thousands of copies, but people still crack jokes about her failing relationships.
Even Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood got under Swift’s skin when they joked about the country songbird and her previous boyfriend, Conor Kennedy, calling it quits. Swift didn’t lose her temper, but she did kindly hint to the New York Times that she didn’t think the joke was funny.
It takes a strong woman to handle all of that with a sense of grace! That’s part of the reason why the ‘Begin Again’ hitmaker has been so successful in her country crossover music career — she keeps putting out hits no matter what the press says about her.
