Some Funny Stories To Make Your Day With The Compliments of Barbara Blevins

While I sat in the reception area of my doctor’s office, a woman rolled an elderly man in a wheelchair into the room. As she went to the receptionist’s desk, the man sat there, alone and silent. Just as I was thinking I should make small talk with him, a little boy slipped off his mother’s lap and walked over to the wheelchair. Placing his hand on the man’s, he said, “I know how you feel. My Mom makes me ride in the stroller too.”

As I was nursing my baby, my cousin’s six-year-old daughter, Krissy, came into the room. Never having seen anyone breast feed before, she was intrigued and full of all kinds of questions about what I was doing. After mulling over my answers, she remarked, “My mom has some of those, but I don’t think she knows how to use them.”

Out bicycling one day with my eight-year-old granddaughter, Carolyn, I got a little wistful. “In ten years,” I said, “you’ll want to be with your friends and you won’t go walking, biking, and swimming with me like you do now. Carolyn shrugged. “In ten years you’ll be too old to do all those things anyway.”

Keep a SMILE on your face And a SONG in your heart! A smile – is a sign of joy. A hug – is a sign of love. A laugh – is a sign of happiness. And a friend like me? – Well that’s just a sign of good taste! We’ll be friends until I am senile. Then we’ll be NEW friends.

Saturday Author: Barbara Bush, Sent in by Rhonnie Scheuerman

.

CONTENTED HEART, PATIENT HEART: It is common to hear women bemoaning their lack of patience as if it were the most difficult gift to pry from God’s hand. In fact impatience stems almost solely from our exaggerated notions of what is due us. If we could but lower out estimation of the importance of our time, our plans and our feelings,, we would find ourselves almost automatically more patient.

.

If we are impatient about the same things that anger God- repeated sin, inattention to his Word, social injustice- we cannot really be called impatient (as long as our opinions expressed in love). Neither can we expect a woman to remain totally unperturbed if someone smashes into her new car. Certainly “learning patience” is not an acceptable reason for failure to discipline a rebellious child. Patience is not the same thing as resignation or the cynical attitude “that always expects the worst possible outcome.

Patience is a more positive trait. It is the ability to bear affliction, delay and interruption with calmness, perseverance and confidence in the goodness of God (Colossians 1:11-12,. It is inward peace as well as outward control. It is the submission of our schedules, our viewpoints, our dreams to the greater plan of God, with the conviction that he has a good reason for every delay he allows to come our way.

God’s accuracy may be observed in the hatching of eggs.. . . . .

For example:
-the eggs of the potato bug hatch in 7 days;
-those of the canary in 14 days;
-those of the barnyard hen in 21 days;
-The eggs of ducks and geese hatch in 28 days;
-those of the mallard in 35 days;
-The eggs of the parrot and the ostrich hatch in 42 days.
(Notice, they are all divisible by seven, the number of days in a week!)

God’s wisdom is seen in the making of an elephant. The four legs of this great beast all bend forward in the same direction. No other quadruped is so made. God planned that this animal would have a huge body, too large to live on two legs. For this reason He gave it four fulcrums so that it can rise from the ground easily.

The horse rises from the ground on its two front legs first. A cow rises from the ground with its two hind legs first. How wise the Lord is in all His works of creation!

God’s wisdom is revealed in His arrangement of sections and segments, as well as in the number of grains.

-Each watermelon has an even number of stripes on the rind.
-Each orange has an even number of segments.
-Each ear of corn has an even number of rows.
-Each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains.
-Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of bananas, and each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even number and the next row an odd number.

-The waves of the sea roll in on shore twenty-six to the minute in all kinds of weather.

All grains are found in even numbers on the stalks, and the Lord specified thirty fold, sixty fold, and a hundred fold all even numbers.

God has caused the flowers to blossom at certain specified times during the day. Linnaeus, the great botanist, once said that if he had a conservatory containing the right kind of soil, moisture and temperature, he could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and those that were closed!

The lives of each of you may be ordered by the Lord in a beautiful way for His glory, if you will only entrust Him with your life. If you try to regulate your own life, it will only be a mess and a failure. Only the One Who made the brain and the heart can successfully guide them to a profitable end.

The Bible
When you carry “the Bible”, Satan has a headache, when you open it, he collapses, when he sees you reading it, he loses his strength, AND when you stand on the Word of God, Satan can’t hurt you! And did you also know… “Life without God is like a unsharpened pencil – it has no point.”

I HOPE YOU FIND THIS AS FASCINATING AS I DID. May God Bless You In Ways You Never Even Dreamed

.

This is a mail I received from someone whom I will keep anonymous, due to the sensitiveness of its content. It does amaze me how many mail we all receive from all over the world passed on to us by mostly unknown people and sometimes even from our friends. Some are funny and some are disgusting yet we receive them anyways. The picture below is part and parcel of the freedom we still enjoy on the internet, and as I believe it to be funny some may be offended yet it is not for me to question. If you are please comment or if you think it is funny then you can comment too.

One in Five Teen Births Are Repeats

More than 18 percent of all babies born to teenagers in the U.S. are baby No. 2 or 3, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It’s bad news not only because it means young mothers aren’t getting the message about birth control, but also because babies born to teenagers, especially unmarried teenagers, are more likely to be underweight and to have other health problems.

“Although teen birth rates have been declining for the last two decades, in 2010, more than 367,000 teens aged 15–19 years gave birth,” the CDC said in its report.

“Teen mothers want to do their best for their own health and that of their child, but some can become overwhelmed by life as a parent. Having more than one child as a teen can limit the teen mother’s ability to finish her education or get a job. Infants born from a repeat teen birth are often born too small or too soon, which can lead to more health problems for the baby,” adds the CDC.

Christian Leaders Reach Out to Rick Warren After Hurtful Comments Are Made on Son’s Suicide

Well-known Pastor Rick Warren’s personal tragedy of losing his son Matthew as the result of suicide last Friday has not only garnered sympathy and condolences from around the world, but also online vitriol from his detractors, The Christian Post Reports. Even worse to Warren and many in the Christian community, some of the attacks have come from people professing to be Christians. Upon learning of the news of Mathew Warren’s death and the response on the Internet by some Christians, Beth Moore, founder of Living Proof Ministries, wrote in her blog post that after a mixture of emotions on Saturday, she became “madder and madder at the bullies in the Body of Christ.” Christian author Frank Viola also defended the Warrens, stating, “If you are a Christian and your heart doesn’t go out to this brother and his family, something is wrong with you spiritually.” Warren, who uses social media frequently and has nearly a million followers on Twitter, was more active on Tuesday than previous days, posting his thoughts and recommending articles through links. “WOW. We love you @BethMooreLPM for your powerful and prophetic #SadnessAndMadness blog [link],” he posted in regards to Moore’s “Sadness and Madness” article.

As North Korea threatens Nuclear War, More Christians Suffer

As the world turns its attention to North Korean threats of nuclear war, human rights groups are bringing attention the extensive human rights violations in the country. Long considered the world’s worst persecutor of Christians, estimates place the number of imprisoned Christians at between 30,000 and 70,000, the ICC reports. Once known as the Jerusalem of the East and a center of Christianity in Asia, the Communist regime run by the Kim family has tried to crush Christianity into oblivion for more than half a century.

On Friday, the North Korean government said it would not be able to guarantee the safety of embassies after April 10, and suggested that Russia, China, and Great Britain consider evacuating their diplomats. While the situation appears to be serious, governments are playing down the rhetoric from North Korea, assuming it represents yet another tantrum by a regime starving for attention, legitimacy, and economic aid. North Korea is the worst perpetrator of persecution against Christians in the world. Christians are tortured, imprisoned, and murdered. Private, non-state-sanctioned religious activity is prohibited. Anyone discovered engaging in clandestine religious activity is subject to arrest, torture, or even public execution.

As many as 100,000 believers are thought to worship secretly. Possessing a Bible, saying the words God or Jesus, and meeting together are all offences punishable by death. VOM reports estimate that of the hundreds of thousands incarcerated in labor and concentration camps, about 30,000 are Christians

Robert Edwards, Inventor of Test Tube Babies, Dies at 87

Nobel Prize winner Robert Edwards, a University of Cambridge professor known as the “father of in vitro fertilization,” died Wednesday at the age of 87 after battling a long illness, World Magazine reports. Edwards and his late colleague, gynecologist Patrick Steptoe, were the first to enable a woman to give birth using in vitro fertilization (IVF), 35 years ago. Edwards and Steptoe’s work aroused indignation in the 1970s. Critics said manipulating the procreative process in a lab was degrading to humans. They pointed out many embryos, created in petri dishes but never transferred to the womb, were simply “washed down the sink”—a scenario that continues today. At the time, Edwards defended himself in The Quarterly Review of Biology, arguing life was transferred gradually from parent to child, rather than created at the moment of conception: “The assumption of full human rights at a single moment … demands making arbitrary decisions that are unjustified biologically,” he wrote.

Other scientists have since disputed that view and affirmed that human life begins at conception. The denial of life at conception undergirds the justification for abortion today, although abortion proponents rarely try to defend that dubious tenet, instead preferring to talk in terms of “choice.”

BARBARA BLEVINS shares one of the emails she received this Easter Weekend With Us

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.

Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water! She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it so slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you?” You don’t owe me anything, she replied. “Mother has taught us never to accept payment for a kindness.”

He said. “Then I thank you from my heart.” As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit. Many years’ later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.

Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor’s gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to her case. After a long struggle, the battle was won.

Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, and then wrote something on the edge, and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words.

“Paid in full with one glass of milk”

(Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly.

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: “Thank You, God, that Your love has spread through human hearts and hands.”

There’s a saying which goes something like this: Bread cast on the water comes back to you. The good deed you do today may benefit you or someone you love at the least expected time.

If you never see the deed again at least you will have made the world a better place and, after all, isn’t that what life is all about?
The hardest thing to learn in life is which bridge to cross and which to burn.

I Frans Maritz have not used my info@wildhorse.co.za email account for more than a year. So if you receive any mail that are from info@wildhorse.co.za please just delete it as it is not from me, Frans Maritz, Wildhorse Entertainment or WHISNews21. I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to stop this, as changing passwords has not worked either. I have wanted to cancel the email but it is the only way for people to contact me if they do not have my new email address. I apologize to you if you are receiving these emails from info@wildhorse.co.za but as I said please do not bother opening them just delete them. I don’t even want to mention my new email here as that is how most spammers pick up your email accounts, so I hear. However if you want to contact us and do not have any other email account you can still send an email to info@wildhorse as I do receive the mails. I usually check that email account once a week and will find your mail there between about a 1000 or more spam emails. Below is a copy of the latest email I received that I never send but it is from info@wildhorse to info@wildhorse.co.za

1. Unload Your Schedule
Between driving carpool, working, volunteering at the kids’ school and managing your packed to-do list, your life is a whirlwind. It’s exhausting and makes even the fun stuff un-fun. Work overload can cause depression, says Harold Levinson, M.D, a New York-based psychiatrist and neurologist. So why do we say “yes” to extra responsibilities in the first place? Because we’re human and enjoy togetherness. “We’re inherently social” and like to be involved in group events, says Catherine Birndorf, M.D., founding director of the Payne Whitney Women’s Program at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. “The problem is that party or bake sale is part of a week that includes 20 other things.” So what’s the solution? Prioritize. “Look at the bigger picture,” Dr. Birndorf says. Decide which activities you really want to do and assess whether they realistically fit into your schedule.

2. Laugh More
Laughter really is the best medicine. Studies show that simply smiling will send serotonin levels soaring, making you feel better physically and putting you in a happy mood. So put some fun in your life, whether it’s reading a good book or learning to parasail, these pick-me-ups will have you smiling in no time. Even simpler, learn some new jokes and share them with co-workers – just keep it clean so you don’t get in trouble!3. Avoid Alcohol
A social calendar jam-packed with happy-hour drinks with the girls may keep your mood festive. But it’s not the best way to fight depression: You may be belting out post-party pity tunes. Why? “Alcohol is actually a central nervous system depressant,” Dr. Birndorf says. Besides, you’ll pay the next day with a hangover. “You’re not as functional as usual, which can make you feel even worse,” Dr. Birndorf says. So pace yourself, experts say. If you have three get-togethers in one week, decide how many drinks you’ll have at each and alternate between cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. Also, fill your tummy with food to cut alcohol’s impact.

4. Accentuate the Positive

Focus on the good things in your life, especially when you feel buried under stress and worry. “You’re much more in control once you take a step back and look at what’s going on and what you might do to help yourself feel better,” says Donna Colabella, a clinician at the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester in New Hampshire. Is work getting to you? Take a time-out. Turn away from the task at hand, close your eyes for a minute and think about something that puts you in a happy mood. It may be as small as a new pair of shoes or as big as having good health. Hold on to the thought and visualize something you’re looking forward to – maybe an evening out with friends or a date with a hot new guy.5. Food, Glorious Food

Certain vitamins and nutrients, like omega-3 fatty acids, change the brain chemistry that affects your mood. Studies have shown that eating foods high in omega-3 fatty acids can improve your mood, says Jill Weisenberger, Lifescript nutrition expert and a nutritionist at National Clinical Research – Norfolk, Va.Fatty cold-water fish, such as salmon, anchovies, herring and mackerel, are one of the best sources of omega-3s that help fight depression. But “women of childbearing potential or nursing mothers shouldn’t eat mackerel because of its high mercury content,” she says. B vitamins – especially B6, B12 and folic acid – may also help. Eat foods such as sunflower seeds, oranges, beets and leafy green vegetables every day to maintain that happy mood. Vitamin D offers a double dose of nutritional goodness. It can cut the risk of osteoporosis and relieve symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD), a depression that typically occurs in winter, when there are fewer hours of sunshine.6. Don’t Deny Grief or Loneliness

The death of a loved one – especially after the first year or two – can trigger depression and loneliness. The same holds true if your children are with the ex or a close friend or family member has moved away. You can’t avoid the pain, says psychotherapist Richard O’Connor, Ph.D., Lifescript’s depression expert and author of Happy at Last (St. Martin’s Press). “What makes the difference is what you do with those feelings.” Be honest with yourself. “If you try to deny the pain and put on a happy face, it’ll get to you, often as depression,” O’Connor says. Instead, acknowledge that you’re missing someone and share your feelings with a trusted friend or family member. Find a way to connect to your absent loved one, Dr. Birndorf says. Little reminders of them may help. For example, wear a piece of your grandmother’s jewelry or make your son’s favorite recipe – for yourself.

7. Try an Alternative Approach

Some natural treatments or approaches may help manage depression:Aromatherapy
Breathe in and soothe your mood with aromatherapy using concentrated essential oils from plants. Those that may help include clary sage, bergamot, geranium, lavender, lemon and rose. Dilute them with vegetable oil and massage into your skin, add a few drops to the bath or warm them over a diffuser (the heat will spread the scent throughout the room).Acupuncture
Many acupuncture practitioners also encourage meditation and relaxation during the session, which can help clear the mind of stress and negative thoughts. Acupuncture may also give some patients a new appreciation of their body’s capabilities and strengths. Make sure your acupuncturist is certified; many are also medical doctors.

8. Know Your Symptoms

If you’re still having trouble beating the blahs, you may be clinically depressed. See a doctor if you have at least six of the following 10 symptoms:

Persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety or emptiness

Decreased appetite and weight loss

Insomnia, waking up early in the morning or oversleeping

Restlessness

Fatigue or less energy

Feelings of hopelessness and pessimism

Feelings of worthlessness, helplessness or excessive guilt

Loss of interest or pleasure in once-enjoyable activities

Difficulty concentrating, remembering and making decisions

Recurrent thoughts of death or suicide

9. Talk to a Doc

He or she can determine if medication is right for you, says Josh Klapow, Ph.D., associate professor of health care organization and policy at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and co-author of Living SMART: Five Essential Skills to Change Your Health Habits Forever (DiaMedica Publications). Antidepressants relieve depression by working on brain chemicals called neurotransmitters – serotonin and norepinephrine. They give you that “happy feeling,” and raising their levels can boost your mood.

Here are 3 classes of antidepressants your doctor may prescribe:

Selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SSNRIs): These are among the newest class of antidepressants − they include Cymbalta, Effexor and Pristiq − that increase the activity of both serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain.

Unlike older antidepressants, SSNRIs can be prescribed at full dose immediately, so you may feel better faster. Common side effects include diminished appetite and sexual function and sleepiness or insomnia.

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs): These antidepressants, which include Lexapro, Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft, boost only serotonin levels. They have fewer side effects than other antidepressants, including dry mouth, nausea, nervousness, insomnia, headache and sexual dysfunction.

Tricyclics: Like SSNRIs, this older family of medications – including Elavil, Norpramin and Tofranil – affects both serotonin and norepinephrine levels. But tricyclics are dosed gradually and take longer to provide relief.

Side effects are also more severe, and include dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, difficulty urinating, impaired thinking and fatigue.

10. Go for Psychological Counseling

Research shows that medication and therapy together are more effective at managing depression than either by itself, says O’Connor.
“Medication can help more quickly than therapy alone and can help to prevent the out-of-control mood swings that come during recovery,” he says. Therapy helps “resolve the problems that led to the depression and teaches us how to prevent future episodes.” When looking for a therapist, consider these questions:

Does gender matter to me?

Does he or she accept my insurance?

What is the attendance policy?

Where is the office located?
