Today’s message “FEAR OUR GREATEST THIEF” goes right along with our last column. I received by email & also listed on Frans sitemany folks stating it really hit them where they were at. This is so wonderful to hear, thanks very much.
Today’s message ” FEAR OR INSPIRATION & ENTHUSIASM” ????
“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor serving the Lord. – Romans 12:11
From Daily Guideposts:
…….A book ! I was asked to do a book ! I signed the contract and rejoiced, and then quiet paralysis took hold. I assumed I’d dive right in to the work, but I did other important things instead, like scrub the baseboard in the dining room. After a week I asked myself what was going on. “You’ve done this before, a voice whispered in my ear “.
Ah– it was, my old buddy FEAR. He shows up from time to time, usually when I have to do something new. But I’ve figured something out: He’s only an obstacle in my head. He can’t prevent me from taking tiny, practical, real-world steps.
So instead of panicking about putting together Daily GuidepostS: “Your First Year of Motherhood” , I wrote notes to Savra Ciancaneli and Karen Valentin to see if they were interested in writing devotions about being a new mom. There ! And that was all I did for the book that day.
That next day FEAR was back, so I asked him to wait while I scratched out ideas on what the book should include. Prayers?
YES Helpful mothering tips? Sure: The overall focus: how to keep God in your life when you don’t even have time for a shower. FEAR got bored and wandered off.
The following day I faked out my nemisis, surfing the Web as if I were wasting time. Instead I searched for (and found) several excellent writers to contribute to the book. And so it went, one day and one small item at a time. Soon I was doing two things a day, and then five. I didn’t ever notice when FEAR packed his bags and left. Perhaps that’s because his place was taken by Enthusiasm- who as you know is an excellent house guest (I am adding as is INSPIRATION -Rhon).
Lord you’re in every new experience that comes into my life. Help me face down fear by looking for Your face instead.
